Why is the volume so low when I use send from one into a power amp? What do I do wrong?

The signal is very low

Need to supply a lot more detail.
What amp are you feeding with and what is the amp you’re using for power?

Just before it was LARRY Dino preamp into MATAMP SL120 power amp.

When I use the slave out there’s normal volume

What volumes or switches on the Larry might affect the loop’s output? Like on some Mesa’s, where their individual Channel volume is their send level for the loop.

There a channel volume and a master volume.

Right now I’m trying my rectifier rev F and VHT 2150. Only when master is on full the volume seem to be normal.

Does the master volume on the preamp-amp need to be at 10??

Line level vs instrument level. Instrument level is much lower than line level. Line level is pro rack gear, instrument level is for pedals and has a worse overall noise floor.

I’m assuming you’re piping instrument level out to an amp expecting line level in.

Isn’t the “amp loop” fx out essentially a preamp? Make sure the amp fx is engaged. Will be lower output than the amp line out but higher than instrument level? Instrument<preamp<slave/line which is equal to amp speaker out? No ? Trying to learn here; not stating fact…

Depends if it’s buffered or not and if so, buffered at what output level.

If it’s not buffered, then you’ll have a varying output level depending on the preamp volume control and the output level won’t be a predetermined known standard.

Do you mean channel master? If you’re using the loop send the overall Master is doing nothing. Anywhere from 10 to noon on the channel master dial should be a decent amount of level for the recto. There’s also the send level on the loop itself which should just float around 12 O’Clock.

This. The Larry loop is probably a simple insert loop...which has a fixed output level(afaik). So you're stuck with that output; unless you mod it to be and active loop with send/return levels.
I always felt the slave out was far and away the best tone, when I first slaved a 2C+ to a Strategy 400 10 yrs back. I also tried the FX send, and the Mesa had a separate pre out as well...Slave out was much better. You're getting the WHOLE amps tone that way, including the power section.
