Can you sign your autograph on the head and cabs somewhere?
Anywhere is fine.

Thanks
Angelo

I'm firing up a fatty ... cigar of course in your honor.

You are gonna be floored be the sound!

Angelo,

Welcome to the Eggie family. This amp never fails to amaze. You will love it. Its basically not possible not to. Life doesnt have many sure things. The MOD 50 is one of them! Enjoy it!

What modules did you settle on?

Hey Matt!

I decided to stick with the MHG and vox but soon after
probably venture into the t/d , EG5, EG3/4 once I see what they have to offer
with the 2 module add on rack for the Mod 50.
also, worst case is you dont lose much in reselling a
module to get another if you need to.

Doing some studio work in Nashville with some great gutarist like Dann Huff and others has ruined me.
They have so many great sounds programmed with thier heads and racks,
I love them all and have a tough time choosing sounds/modules to cover a wider range of tones.
Dann is where I first learned about egnater.

I am also very curious to see what the GC/egnater offering will be as a second amp head etc.

Angelo,

If Im being totally honest (and I am), I would seriously recommend the SL2 or EG5 for studio work (and almost everything actually!). Either of these two will be more versatile while still being able to cover the same ground as the MHG and providing more cut. The SL2 will need a boost to get into real high gain territory ala MHG and EG5, but its got that perfected Marshall sound that would work for SO many sessions.

Also, while being an incredible high gain module, EG5 can cover alot of ground as well. Depending on your attack, pickup selection, and gain settings, it can do alot. I run my gain at about 12 oclock which is about equivalent to the SL2 A channel gain dimed and it gives me a ripping rhythm and lead tone, BUT I can also get a surprisingly convincing overdriven blues tone in pickup position 2. This module is amazing. Its just unreal how much it can do and how amazing it sounds doing all of it.

On a side note - What was it like working with Huff? His 80s work is legendary for good reason. What a great player with some great tones!

No doubt that Dann Huff is a monster....I've been following his session work for years
now as well as the band GIANT and he never fails to just floor you with his chops....
And the guy is a really good singer, songwriter, producer and more.....If you ever get the
chance to pick up his lesson video it's a must see for fans of Dann!!

I,m gona talk with frank about the Eg5. he first suggested the Sl2 and I felt I wanted a bit more.
again I am going on just a few short video clips. Everyones passion for the Eg5 has me stirred.

Working with Huff was phenominal. The engineer just mics his 2 1X12's and 2 direct lines and Dans sound immediatly sounds like a record, fully produced and engineered right out of his rack then he does his magic. Interesting basic approach giving the producer a palette of parts and sounds to choose from or use all of. Goes something like this, according to what I experienced.

1. stereo distorted power chords through whole song (where applicable) some places single bass lines.
2. stereo keyboard / swell type sounds and parts throughout, always moving the chord voicing up the neck so the song is always moving forward.
3. stereo picking parts or clean muted picking parts.
4. stereo lead parts

Now a producer can mix the power chords up for more rock radio or mix the keyboards up for lighter radio and it still all sounds great. on my sessions he was using Rockmod pre and VHT stereo amp. After the big rack scene he went to heads where the egnaters came in. Everything goes in cycles I guess.

These guys play on so many tracks, they never hear the finished product. One story goes, Dan heard the Paula abdula hit "Straight Up" on the radio and said he liked they way that guitarist thinks and his approach. Dan's brother turned to him and said that it was him playing.

Thanks
Angelo

I guess when I get back into town next week I need to start buggin em. Today is 15 weeks (Aug 6) on my Mod 50 I order and I haven't gotten a call yet.
