I can't figure what the heck is up with my MOD 50. I was haivng problems with the Series loop. Now, I decide to plug straight in and I get crackling, volume fluctuating. Sometimes it goes so low, there is no volume, then it comes back up sounding weak. If it was a bad tube, what would be the culprit? Power tube? Preamp tube?
I am losing my mind with this thing...

Try replacing tubes one by one, I am not sure how the Mod 50 is setup, perhaps someone can give insight into which tube position sounds most likely the culprit

Thanks guys...

I am an diot today, I rarely use effects loops or pedals boards but this past year I started using one. I quit my band months ago and decided to set up my board this week with the Egnater. The Furman board has two sections on the board for external gear like rack gear. I accidentally had the Egnater hooked up like another effects piece. I am surprised I was getting anything from the effects...I guess just running them on the board was enough but it sounded bad! I finally got it figured out and all run the right way. However, I may have blown two of the preamp tubes in the head(maybe they were already going bad), because they were out after all this tweaking mess. I replaced them with JJ ec83s and seemed fine. Just to be safe I also replaced the third preamp tube in the head.
After installing the new tubes, I still hadn't realized I had the head hooked up incorrectly and so I tried the head again with the new tube with the wrong hook up and again, no sound. I then shut her down and looked online for the Furman manual. Stupid, I should have read the manual before messing again with the effects loop and pedalboard. I haven't turned it back on since but will tomorrow. I hope I didn't hurt the new tubes! Luckily I still have 4 tubes lying around.

I replaced the ElectroHarmonic 12AX7s with the JJ ec83s tubes which I believe are 12AX7s. Is that okay?

Think I got it now....bad power tubes - d'oh! However, that's what I nthought last time I thought I found the problem. At this point I have replaced all tubes in the head.
