Cause I saw him throw down last night at the Continental and it was amazing.

I know for a fact Ed D does. Well Ben (owner, creator of Redwitch pedals) decided to stay in town after NAMM for a few days, so we could hang out, and more importantly, catch the show. I had never actually heard Bill's music so I didnt know what to expect. What I got was glorious.

He used some weird custom Tele with a 3x3 headstock into a blackface Deluxe (I Think). Awesome tones though. He used a Zvex Fuzz Factory and Seek Wah for a lot of it.

He is in a world of his own. He doesnt really use vibrato which is weird. But he grips the neck so tight, and pushes on the back of it, so when he plays chords it sounds like he's got a chorus pedal on. Pretty damn cool.

He had Joey Baron on drums, and he was ridiculous. He's got the Buddy Rich set up going and just layed waste to the kit. Amazing.

I cant remember the bass players name off hand, but he was using an upright and was easily one of the best bass players Ive ever seen live. Amazing performance. If Bill comes to your town, go see him. Unlike any kind of jazz fusion you've heard... IMO.

I have no idea who he is ...... but I've been digging jazz more and more lately so I'm always on the lookout for more stuff ...

I didnt get to see him play when he came by last year for a radio show we record here. Only thing I remember really was his tele being the lightest electric guitar I have ever held. I almost threw it when I grabbed it because I was expecting it to weigh more. He seemed like a cool guy.

Damn you saw Frank last night?!? Man IM jealous.

Frisell is awesome imo. I've heard lots of his stuff but the only two discs of his I own are East/West, and Blues Dream. I love how he creates moods and layers of music to convey ideas. A lof of his stuff is not jaw dropping technically, but he has a knack for putting together great melodies, Tele twang, and not so traditional sounds to make great music.

That's awesome you got to see him live. East/West is a great live disc (two discs) if you're interested in picking up some of his material.

Sure do...I consider him a friend.

I miss one NAMM, and look what happens. :) Great shows, and great post-show hangage.

I'm there in January.

Yup, I know who Bill Frisell is. I worked in a record store (actual vinyl) for 7 years.
