Damn thing looks brand now. Got it for a ridiculously good price and I’ve wanted one for ages. Probably my favorite in the Recto lineup. Yes… I know I’m in the minority here.

Anyway, super stoked for it so now I feel better about finally getting my Rev G modded.

Good for you! I hated that amp!

I bought it brand new and couldn't get rid of it quickly enough...
Horses for courses I suppose.

In 5 minutes time I got tones on each channel I was quite pleased with. I gotta make a vid for sure. I want to A/B it with my Rev G.

I’ve heard tell that effectively this and rhe MultiWatt are basically the same thing minus one channel. Not sure if that’s accurate or not though.

I had a og tremoverb when they first came out. That amp I really liked. I only sold it because it was a heavy, heavy 2x12 combo.... kick myself...

The tremoverb 212 is the quintessential Incubus amp, tremoverbs are killer

I found that not to be the case at all. The roadster is almost quieter, darker, and the sweep on the controls for the gain channels is quite a bit different. Compared extensively with my MW when I had both and the roadster was a distant 2nd, lacked any sort of authority. YMMV though

I have a roadster, owned a multi watt and have had extensive time with a triple rec Rev G. The roadster is much darker and does not respond at all like a rev G. I like it for different reasons than I enjoyed the Rev G. The multi watt is more modern with more gain and will cut through a mix much better than a roadster

Interesting. Quotes like nuts overall didn’t push a lot of volume?

Any reason in particular the Roadster is the one you kept? I’d have to assume an EQ in the loop would have made up for any issues with cutting one might have?

To be clear, this amp will live on the home studio.

I actually like the roadster with a boost. You just have to run the master higher to push the power amp a bit. It's less fizzy to my ears and maybe a bit more scooped. In a home studio it sounds great but it wouldn't be the first amp I grab to play a show...though it's pretty damn versatile with 4 channels and assignable fx loop and reverb to each channel

Yeah for sure relegated to home/studio stuffs. Live it’s always a Marshall type or Quad Cortex and power amp…

Soon to be Soldano X88 and KSR power amp.

Also, I’m not hearing anything here that makes me regret my purchase. This vid actually rekindled my search.

Roadster (and Road King) are darker, for sure, but it is vastly more versatile. Channels 1 and 2 are just awesome. Channel 4 sounds killer, too. Little more vocal midrange and not as cold sounding as a normal recto. Kohle did a good vid comparing how they sound with 1:1 settings:

At around 10:50, they're dialed in pretty close.

I’ll have to check this out
