Got my VH4 back from the shop. Channel 4 works and no more noise! Still needs a new MIDI chip but I can manage for now. New SED =C= EL34s, new V1/V3 and fixed the pots on channel 4. This thing sounds even better now. So happy! Now that I've had a chance to play around with Channel 4, I've found that it's NOT overly compressed as everyone describes it. It has about the same compression as Channel 3, but even more mids. I run the gain about noon and it's perfect for leads or even rhythm. Channel 3 sounds scooped compared to 4, at least on my amp.

This thing sounds MEAN and has balls so large i'll need a wheelbarrow just to carry them around.

Oh, and Channel 2 is amazing. Gain maxed out, treble almost at zero, mids maxed, bright switch on and run the presence high and you have a cranked Superlead/Superbass with a touch more gain. Back off your guitar's volume a bit and you're in AC/DC land.

Sounds like you are pretty happy with the results, , I am sure the midi chip problem will be taken care of,,, and good luck moving the wheelbarrow and the amp at the same time! :D
