Well, now I can add E34Ls to my list.

I have had E34Ls in my Mod 50 for a few weeks and the bias has been perfect. Both coming in at 40. Last night I started her up and checked the bias. One read 40 and the other 19! WTF! I am guessing these are dying as well.

Did you let it warm up for a bit before you checked the bias?

Yep, checked it at 5 minutes and again after I finished playing. Does this indicate bad tubes?

Definitely a tube going bad. But doesn't mean E34L's are inherently all bad.

True Eric,

But this is three sets of EL34s and one E34Ls in two years. May have to stick with 6550s and 5881s. I thik it could have something to do with the Egnater. I friends who ONLY used EL34s and never had a problem ever in years of playing.

Today they read 40 and 35 so closer but they were always dead on tight at 40.

One thing I always noticed is the one tube is not straight in the plastic sleeve, the glass tube comes out at an angle and always has.......it seems to have been like that from the factory. That tube always scared me.

Maybe it is the fault of my metere?

DT830B and using the 200DCV setting.

5881s are in there now with Svet 6550s on standby.
They bias at 34 and 32. I set them to 34.5 and 32.5 to get em up a bit.

RICHIE BRO!!!!You hard on da tubes man :D I'm still running E34Ls and 6550s in the RT and there strong and long
