Playing my stereo rig and suddenly my ultra plus gets quiet. Still has some output but volume is cut big time. Any ideas what to look for? All three channels work, just very little sound.

Even though very quiet does the amp sound normal? My Stiletto did this and once I cleaned the tube sockets it came back to normal volume. This was after trying different tubes in every position.

I would definitely clean all your tube sockets then, to start with. If that doesn’t do the trick, next, I would use the loop to try to get an idea if it’s happening with the preamp section or the output section. Obviously, having some other tubes on hands to do some experimental swaps can’t hurt either.
Just guessing here, but I would imagine if the saturation sounds normal and the Tone stack works, but it’s just very quiet. The problem is further down the line, as opposed to being near the input, if it’s not a dirty tube socket.

Yep. Check you power ubers. And phase inverter 12ax7.

I had an Ultra Plus that shit the bed too, once. It was years ago. I had just gotten it from a local store's used department and it worked great. I took it to my new band's first practice and it farted out basically the second I flipped it on. At least the store took it back (even after 30 days) and got it fixed for me.

I would try to eliminate any variables so I would try all the simple stuff like that, cables, tubes, etc.

I've had this happen to me a few times on different amps. Each time it was the loop jacks. Sprayed a little Deoxit on a plug and ran it in and out a few times and presto, Bob's your uncle.

Gotta love it when it’s simple and you can just keep rockin’. The relief I felt when my Stileltto returned to normal after a simple clean was not small.

Okay…now it’s developed a significant hum on the ultra channel…. It was the ultra channel only but now it’s on the crunch channel as well. Clean channel is quiet. Going to swap pre’s and go from there. Also going to grab some shielding tape and cover the cab where the chassis is exposed inside…just for the hell of it.
