Someone asked for a vid with my PRS in another thread. Just thought I'd post it here in the Diezel forum. Recorded on my laptop's webcam, so maybe not the best representation of the amp. But you get the idea.

Sounds really cool!!!

Could you post your settings? Thanks!

Channel 3

Gain: 12:00
Volume: 9:45
Treble: 1:30/2:00
Middle: 2:00 at the beginning, I max it out toward the end
Bass: 12:00
Master Volume: 8:30 (this is the limiting factor, When you crank it, it sounds massive, I think there's a crying baby living above me)
Presence: 1:00
Deep: 12:00

Great tone. I do not like the delay though, no transparency. If you could make it long tail & transparent, it would be golden!

Can you explain a little more? Not sure what you mean. Do you mean increasing the feedback or playing with the mix or level? What? This delay has a lot of options on it I could try a different delay mode or... I even have a Boss DD-3/7 to play around with. They're a bit "cleaner" if that'll help.

The Empress definitely colors the sound a bit.

start with a different mode, also try 2 times the delay time you have set now & see what happens.

I set the delay time to the tempo of the song or, for example, if it's a cover I'll set the delay time to what the original song had. But if I'm just wanking around that's another story. I'll try it.

How do you know what the original time was? I mean if I set my delay at 50bpm for 100bpm song, how do you know which one it is?

I gotta say one thing here.

Sorry to let you know, but that 2x12 isn't doing the amp justice.

I own one, as well as the 4x12, and a few other cabs.

to me, it is way to bright and thin through this 2x12 cab.

for some reason, it excels way more when the speakers have more room to breathe into a 4x12. Adds that extra oomph and girth to the tone.

just an fyi.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I listen to the song, I hit the tap-tempo so the delay matches whatever the delay time of the song was...

Take the breakdown of Tool's Schism, for example. Not sure if you know the song, but it's the part at "Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion..." where it's all delay guitar and synth. It's pretty easy to hear what the delay time is. Another example is the opening to Coheed and Cambria's "Feathers." Listen to the song and you'll be able to hear what the delay time is. Also, 50bpm is a lot slower than 100bpm. So it should be blatantly obvious what's up (assuming your delay is set for quarter notes).

Is this from hearing the clip or from your own experience running a VH4 through a Mesa 2x12? Or both?

The biggest reason why I don't have a 4x12 is because it won't fit in my car... :) So I make due. I could go to GC and buy a 4x12 right now. But I'd have no way to get it home. Or to and from gigs.

Simple, strap it to the hood or the top of your vehicle.

Or...buy a little trailer and install a hitch.

Problem solved.

I currently own:
1-2x12 Mesa Recto Cab
1-4x12 Mesa Traditional Cab
1-4x12 Marshall 1960AV
1-4x12 Marshall MF400B

I also own, a Diezel Herbert and VH4, as well as many of the other amps in my Signature.

I speak strongly of experience.

However, I completely understand your predicament with the small car.

Whenever you get the opportunity, however, make sure you do get to try your amp through someone else's 4x12's.
Big different with cabs and speakers. I am digging a v30/K100 mix at the moment. However, I may be getting a V30/t75 cab very shortly to try out. Supposed to be another good combination.

Yeah, I wish I could rock a 4x12 or try out a bunch of different speakers/cabs. But nobody in my area has anything decent. Actually, there's one store that has an old (new) Diezel rear-loaded 4x12. The store has no clue what speakers are in it, though. And the refuse to open it up to check. Plus, I'm not dropping $1200 on a cab. :)
