I think I've figured out that the only pickup working in my new LP is the neck, and DAMN is it aggressive almost didn't even know, but I move the toggle switch around when I ring a note open and theres no change. :aww:

I found this seymour duncan diagram, will it work just the same for dimarzios?

Try this:

Solder the black and white wires together and tape them off
Solder the red wires to the pickup switch
Solder the green and bare wires together and ground them

Go to the DiMarzio website, select the pickup you have. Wiring diagrams are available at the item description level. DiMarzio lead wires use different colors than Seymour Duncan.

You can also download a pdf description of the wiring leads for coil tapping, etc. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll email you the pdf.

I keep reading around and seeing so many different color schemes, but I'll go with this one

Based on the colours and what I know about SD wiring I came up with this.. but all I get out of it was a low volume out of it, any idea what to do?

Your wiring is wrong.

Try that. If you're still confused, email DiMarzio and they'll send you a diagram.

I feel like an idiot, I just tried that diagram and now nothing comes out of the guitar :aww:

Email DiMarzio and they'll help you out. They have tons of diagrams they can email to you. They've even responded to me at 11 pm on a Sunday. Their tech support is great.

Not too strange that you get a weak signal if you're grounding the live wire coming from the PU is it ?

The grey wires must be from the 3th lug to ground

Giga.

Edit: and the blue ones go from 1st lug/volumepot to the centre of the tonepot. Connect the cap between the 1st lug and ground. The "vintage" way is to put the cap between 1st lug volumepot and 2th lug tonepot and connect 1st lug tonepot to ground

Code001's wiring sequence is correct for LP style guitars, but the colors are wrong for DiMarzios. This should help, you can also download this direct from the DiMarzio site.
