I am hoping mine will go to a good home. I am selling my Pre-Rocktron Silverface IE4 and footswitch. I need the money for another purchase and can't afford to keep mine. Honestly, it is the best preamp I have ever owned (I have had the 3+SE, Bogner Fish, Langner DCP, Boogies, you name it). Will probably hunt down another someday when I can afford to. If it makes any difference, I bought this one from Ex-Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland, who swears by these (this was his backup, and he still uses a red face as his primary preamp, having switched from a Bogner Fish over a year ago).

Anyway, I wanted to give the guys in the Egnater forum a shot at it. I just posted it in the classified section.

Disregard. I can't let this thing go. BTW, anyone that has one of these, can you tell me what power amp you have used with it that you are happiest with? Thanks.

VHT 2150

I love my IE-4! I had an M4 too for a while but I sold it because the IE-4 just seems to have a more organic tone and feel to it. I've been through a lot of gear over the years but my IE-4 and MICA 100 are definitely keepers.

For poweramps, I've been using the IE-4 with the Randall RT 2/50 that Bruce designed. I think that's a great-sounding combo, but the Randall is a beast of a poweramp to carry around. The nice thing about it though is you can use the 6L6 side of the RT for the IE-4's two Fender/clean channels, and the EL34 side of the RT for channels 3-4. I've also heard great things about the IE-4 when paired with a VHT 2/50/2 but have never tried that combo myself.

You made a wise decision by not selling your IE-4!

Yeah, it just has such a good tone to it. I used to use a Fish, but I like this better; the channels seem to more logically work together rather than sounding like 4 different preamps, which is what I felt the Fish was like. Don't get me wrong, I think the Fish had amazing tone, and I loved it, but I do like the IE4 better. Will consider all the power amp advice. I rarely see the TBR or 2150 anymore, and I don't know much about the Randall. I do like the Fryette 2502, so maybe that will be the way to go. Chris Poland is using one of these, and he loves the old Boogie 295 with it; I don't see those on the used market very often either.

Eh, hate to do it, but something has to go; need cash. Decided again to part with it if anyone is interested. It kills me to sell it, but times are a little tight financially for me.
