Any of you guys ever use Ferraglide or String saver saddles?

Yes, they're the best. I have them on my custom Anderson and on my O'Donnell.

I would put them (StringSavers) on every Strat I owned. They defentely helped with string breakage. I highly recommend them

I've used string savers on my strat bridge and I found that it made the guitar duller/not as bright in tone. I removed them and went back to the stock american strat saddles. Tone was back again.

I was thinking of putting them on my Axis SS for the following reasons:
1) I get a weird rattling sound that seems to come from the saddles. If I move a saddle around (up/down etc) it goes away.
2) Any increase in sustain is welcome. Not that I don't have enough sustain, but you can never have too much sustain! LOL! :D

I don't want the guitar to sound dark or dull all of a sudden though. Are they that much darker?

We were breaking strings on my Wife's Strat and put them on it. Never broke another in over 15 years of playing. I think the tone is not as good as steel. My American Standard has stock saddles and I have not broke a string in over a year and the tone is perfect. Stock is better IMHO.

How would you describe the tone?

+1, I found the same thing. Went back to stock for happier strat goodness.

I forgot to specify... Ferraglide. The all graphite string savers do save your strings but, remove some of the tone... in the case of one guitar I own... not in a bad way but, still. In my opinion there are NO cons to the ferraglide saddles.

I used the graphtech nut on my strat and that was good, I'm probably going to get some for my lp since that is in need of a saddle change.

I like that bright country spank you get on a Strat and with the string savers some of the brightness was lost I wouldn't say they are real bad but for me not an improvement.

I have the string saver saddles on a strat and both of my ESP vipers.

I love 'em.
