Any Pixies fans here on RT?

So Surfer Rosa has been getting a few spins in the CD player.. this album is like a kick in the nuts!

Don't see much mention of them here however.. Pixies fans show yer faces!

I like them, I have a couple of their albums. I have surfer Rosa and Doolittle. I prefer Doolittle by far.

My wife is probably their biggest fan - so lets say I'm pretty used to listen to their stuff.

I have to look up where haver her (!) version of "Gigantic" (old HCAFers will remember, she plays bass and sings)

Huge fan and also big Kim Deal post Pixies fan. They were perhaps the most influential band to come from the late 80's. You can hear much of it through Nirvana, Bush, U2, Radiohead, PJ Harvey, etc. I would suggest that without the Pixies your modern alt rock would be much different.

Plus Joey was a pretty cool guitarist, much more about texture and feel than pyrotechnics. Perfect for that band. Frank Black was one of the first to bring sordid lyrics to the forefront, sex, rape, incest, depression, all in his inimitable style.

I missed out on the Pixies in their heyday. I just recently saw them on Austin City Limits and then went out and bought everything I could find on CD. Great band. When you listen to them its pretty striking how many people lift stuff from the Pixies lol.
