Any plans for a Diezel preamp?

Hi Peter, hi guys,

As a bedroom player who is mostly focused on recording, I'd be better off with a preamp and
either a good cabinet simulator or good IRs. At some point in the near future I'd like to make
an investment into a good preamp. Mesa doesn't quite do it for me. For a while I've looked at
the ENGL E570, but now I'm not so sure about it either. Since a friend of mine's been sending
me samples of his new Einstein head, I'm pretty wild about getting that sound. However, not
being a pro and having other, unrelated things on the shopping list really keeps me from
buying a head, for which I'd have to get either a cabinet or a loadbox. Also, it's very unlikely
that I could afford a custom made preamp. However, if a series model ever appears, it will
definitely be something I'll look at.

Cheers,
Vlad

Many people have been begging for a decade for both Diezel preamps and power amps, but I don't think we will get any soon.
I don't think Papa Diezel sees enough of a market to make either.
As a last resort, we just keep buying each Diezel model to cover all of our tonal bases and it's a good trade off.

:aww:
I guess I should've used my search-fu better before posting. Oh well, I suppose I'll settle for an Einstein and
a Palmer loadbox, when the time comes. I just wish there was something lighter weight to begin with. Going
to the hypothetical next level would've also been easier afterwards, I guess.

Thanks for the clarification!

The Einstein is a great recording amp and it's not too heavy to carry either. It's awesome when
you want to run to a gig with a small head and a 1X12 or 2X12. It is still lighter than a rack with a power amp
stuck in there.

As a Diezel owner this may be a bit blasphemous to say (especially around these parts) but I have honestly heard that Axe-Fx's Diezel patches sound utterly amazing, I will say I am only speaking for the VH-4 patch, but I have a good ear for tone, and the VH-4 has a VERY distinct sound to my ear, and if I had my eyes closed I would have thought the Axe-Fx patch I was hearing was a VH-4 hands down no question... maybe that's something you should look into...

Just for the record I'm neither an Axe OR a tube purist, I think if it sounds good you should use it (withing reason   ) just seems for the OP's needs the Axe-FX would be near perfect.

I should also add though I have never played one, but heard many MANY great clips... good luck man, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a Diezel pre/power amp....

If we get a new member who´s doing my
job, I will design the units in fall.

:scared:

well, *cough* there is a member who is very qualified
to develope your Preamp ... his skills are complete (no doubt about that!)

You already trust him because he is a pretty loyal person who is
the webmaster for Diezelamplification ;)

His "BlackTiger" Preamps will enter the "Rock Hall of Fame" very soon

Any idea?

I had the preamp for one and a half year and couldn´t finish ;)

A friend and I compared my VH4S side by side to his Axe-Fx VH4 emulation and we couldn't tell a difference besides the "in the room" sound. The head seems to have more presence somehow. The Axe is very good for recording, but I challenge anyone to get that gorgeous VH4 feedback from an Axe.

My next piece of gear will be an Axe Ultra, but it is definitely NOT replacing my VH4S. Just planning to run them in tandem and mix some tones.

A Diezel pre?...perhaps chl's from a herbert, vh4, einy, and schmidt?...and maybe a new sound?...The Tone Gods would be smiling indeed! ( this topic has come up before a few times here)..but its great to have hope..Id love to add it to my rack!

What I'd like best is a 4 channel, MIDI preamp, covering everything from jazz to metal, while sounding the same across all channels. I for one dislike the TriAxis preamps, their channels sound somewhat unrelated to eachother, although taken separately they sound ok.

While I loved the tone of my TriAxis (when I purchased it in 93) I felt the switching between channels was the weakest part of that rig. If there could be a smoother transition from one channel to the next without the *POP* associated from tapping the footswitch, that would be a great benefit to me. Perhaps a capacitive (variably) contolled ramp-up of voltage based on an R/C time constant? People could dial in their preference from no ramp-up to an amount of ramp-up that suited their needs.
