I'm hoping this is as cool as I'm imagining it will be
last years proto sounded killer

my dream is perfect vintage fender clean ch 1, SRV to ford channel 2, and Vh to Johnson dirt ch 3
all with tons of bounce and chirp

John is still tweaking it. CH1 and CH2 as you describe is pretty much a given. He is trying to work in the CH3 (or another mode of CH2) as you describe. If anyone can do it, it'd be John.

Ed, do you guys have a clue as to somewhere in the ballpark about how these will be priced?

Ed .is John making the 2nd channel mode more gained up than the original proto.
is it going to go beyond the plexi/ Acdc gain levels.

We're shooting for low-2K without the fancy footswitch. It'll probably be a little over 2.5K with the 14-button footswitch. Anyway, that's what we're shooting for.

No, this won't be going into real high-gain territory although it does have a good amount of gain. It's more like a souped-up Fender - a la *umble and other amps that try to duplicate the Ford/Carlton lead tones. It was internally known as the "blues amp" during development. It's aimed at a whole different class of sounds and styles than what Plexi or that British sound.

given what john did with the PT and the riot pedal, it wouldn't seem like he'd have too much trouble making a fender clean platform turn into a marshally lead channel.
the trick is that dumble thing...tons of sensitivity and sustain without as much perceived gain, much more midrangy voice, the ability to play cleanish but when you dig in with the pick it barks, which many amps do, but it's really like finger pressure controls how clean or dirty the amp sounds.
