Any tone difference between a 50w SS and a 50w Competition?

Looking at adding a Splawn. I really don't need a clean channel, but Im looking at a used 50w Super Sport and a 50w Competition. Any significant differences in the tone between these amps? As I understand, the Comp is a single channel QR and the SS is a 2 channel with shared EQ and a couple other minor changes (no solo boost I believe).

Thanks

Have not played either one. I had to look up the Super Sport myself. This is just my opinion but everything else being equal - I would get the Competition. Mainly because it is a single channel and probably a bit more well known (for potential resale). The QRs have a bit of bleed over from the clean channel and since you don't need a clean channel the Comp will just be easier and should be a bit more aggressive. But I bet if they had the exact same tubes and were from the exact same year with the exact same cab you would probably not be able to decipher in a blind test.

So I am assuming these are used and you can play both? What are the years/specs etc?

They are used and no I cannot play them so just want to get all the info before purchasing.

I messaged Scott and he said the OD circuits are identical just the amps have different features.

does the SuperSport have a solo boost? if not I'd go for the Competition, hell if you don't need a clean I'd go for the competition anyway
I rarely use the clean on mine, I do have a solo boost but no 3rd gear so if you going to use this for rock/metal/shred, I'd go for the competition

I’ve had both , still have my 50 watt SS’. Boosting them and dialing in a tone along the lines of Ratt and Dokken they were both pretty close but something about the Competition just stood out . Why I sold it I don’t know lol . If no clean is needed I’d go for the Competition
