Anybody using a Blackstar Amped 1 as a poweramp?

Wonder what it's like.

I have a cheapie 20W Mooer Tube Engine that runs on EL84's to power my HX Stomp. As you probably would imagine, it doesn't really have the juice for a full-on loud band. It sounds loud enough, but it also sounds farty and harsh at those levels.

I wonder if the Blackstar is better. It does pump out 100W regardless of load as compared to the Duncan Powerstage which probably pumps out less than 50W at 16 ohms.

So... anyobody using it and enjoying it?

I have one. Love it. Much better than the Soundstage 170. I run it into a 2x12 Marshall 16 ohm cab and it has plenty of power.

I didn't have the same experience as headlessdeadguy with mine but I don't think I had enough time with it to be honest. Just didn't sound like I expected.

I was going to get an SD 170 because I heard a guy at a gig doing a DIO tribute and sounded amazing but ended up getting a Quilter 202. Super loud and still messing with it but think it will end up working perfectly. No tubes but sounds very tube like and has three different voices, FRFR, one middle one and a Vintage which does a killer Fender blues tone.

I need more time until I give a verdict, lol.

What did it sound like that you didn't expect?

I like the Quilter, but I'd also love if I could have it all contained within a pedalboard format.

I’ve used it as poweramp with the AMT S1 preamp pedal and used as a preamp with the Soldano SLO pedal. Works great and it’s freakin’ loud if needed

It had a great sound but I think I was struggling with how to use it. It seemed more like an actual amp to me than a pedal platform and not sure why. I have more pedals now and would have used it differently. I remember struggling with the XLR and direct out, etc. I'm sure alot of this was user error to be honest.

I need to try the SLO with the Quilter. I bet that sounds awesome with any power solution.
