Anybody using Earcandy Cabs?

Anyone here got an experience with Earcandy Cabs? I was looking at a 2x12 Buzzbomb as a second cab to get some heavy bottom frequencies running with my front loaded Diezel 4x12 and VH4. Plus, I am tired of hauling around too many 4x12's. Made to order in the USA. Mass produced and proprietary speaker options. I noticed the guitar player for Killswitch Engaged using them.

I have a Buzzbomb 2x12 and I am very happy with it. Surprisingly lighter then I would of thought (perhaps it was the speaker choice). good projection of sound and nice low end. I am using Green Machine speakers. A little bright at first but have smoothed out and work well for a variety of styles....

so I am a happy camper and don't plan on buying another 2x12 for a long time. The down side of things was the loooong wait for the build. Take what they tell you, and then add a few months and that will be more accurate

i suggest doing a search over at the HC amp forum and read up and decide for yourself?

sounds like thier wait times are rediculous?

They are well built cabs. Classic Lead 80's/Mesa Black Shadow 90's make a good choice for the 2X12 Buzzbombs.

I just bought a used buzzbomb a few weeks ago w/ greenmachines in it. It sounds really good, I'm totally impressed with it. One bad thing though the tolex isn't very tough. I flipped my shiva head forward on it's face on top of it to change a tube and the knobs cut through the tolex in two spots. Still can't believe it damaged it that easily. Mine is a dark burgandy color, maybe the black is better you might want to ask.

I have had my buzzbomb for about a year now, and it is a great cab. I use it vertical with my head on top (it is a small 20 watter). I have gone through quite a few different speakers in it, and right now I have Celestion G12K-100s. I am thinking about ordering another one to put my green machines in. Great cab, and lots of cool options. I have side recessed handles, side feet, and the casters built in to the bottom right corner for wheeling it around.

Great cabs, and great price, but if you are looking to add more low end more 12s won't do it too good. You might want to look at either 15s, or one of the powered subs from Rivera. Those are the best ways to add low end. You also might want to try eminence Man-o-War speakers. They are based on the T75, but they have the biggest low end I have heard in a guitar speaker!!!

One note about the wait times. Tim builds all the cabs himself, and the wait time issues came up while he was having some medical problems. From talking to him since he is doing much better after he went in for surgery. I have heard that the wait times are not a problem anymore. I would still say don't sell your cabs until you have the new one in hand. I sold my 412 to fund my buzzbomb, and I ordered mine when things started to get bad, and my wait time was about 8 months!!!! Tim was great about things, but I was left with just a single 112 cab for 8 months.

I am not selling any cabs, just looking for a 2x12 to add a little more bottom to the rig without carrying around another 4x12. How do you find your G12K100's compared to the Eminence MOW's? Someone was talking up the Eminence Swamp Thangs too for lots of bottom. 15's aren't a bad idea either....

Best cab I've ever owned. It held up well against Landry's Celestion 65watter loaded 4x12 at the Waterloo Amp Fest (at one point Chris even though my amp was going through the Landry cab, ).

You have to be patient when you order one, though, depending on the options. I think Tim has been having trouble with all the demand, especially since he's a bit of a perfectionist.

Here's mine with Swamp Thangs:

The K-100s are great speakers. I think the best description that I heard is that they are great more for what they don't do then what they do. They don't have a mid spike, they are not scooped, they aren't icepicks, etc. They are full and massive sounding. The MOWs are a completely different speaker. I think that clips are probably best to show the difference.

The G12K-100 clip is when I first got the speakers they were not broken in. The dual channel test drum jam is with the MOW.
Both were quick recordings, and my playing sucks on them, but I used the same cab, mic, and recording interface.

I own 2 Buzzbomb cabs and they kill. I only use one cab live and it almost sounds like a 4x12. If your amp puts out a lot of bottom end, these cabs can handle it. Dont expect it to add bottom end though....if you want a cab that adds more bottom then you are describing the genz benz cabs. The earcany's can handle bass whereas the genz cabs add bass IMHO...totally different in that one adds or colors your tone and one projects it. I sold my genz cabs because of the added bass.

The one thing that sucks about the earcandy cabs besides the wait is that tim uses some sort of vinyl covering that gets ripped to shreds pretty easily. I don't beat up my gear and the cab that I use live looks like I dropped it down a flight of stairs lol. i think that he should start using tolex becuase his choice of covering..... sucks plain and simple. I believe its actually boat vinyl lol :D

if the wait bothers you then see Daniel at port city cabs. The Port city oversize cab kills ;)

I have the Buzzbomb loaded with their Greenmachine speakers. Got them since I am using as 180w Diezel Herbert through it. I am thinking of putting some V30's in it to compare. Just a little concerned about frying them. I very rarely max out the volume on the Herbert though.

I spent a lot of time on the phone with the owner, he was quite helpful. I was even asking him about re-tolexing my Herbert head shell  to match the Buzzbomb. Overall I'm a satisfied customer.

I can attest to the shredability of the covering. I have the Diablo skin and have a small number of nicks and scratches from moving it back and forth. It looks stunning, but definitely doesn't take very much punishment. If you're going to be gigging, I'd recommend going with the regular black... you won't feel so bad about beating it up then :)

And from someone who owns both a GFlex and the BuzzBomb, you're absolutely right about how much the GF colors the tone with added bass. The BuzzBomb really "breathes" when you crank up the volume, if that makes any sense. The Gflex just sounds more congested.

Well it's great to know that someone else has the same thoughts/opinions!! With that said, I have to mention that I did like the Genz cabs but I was looking for something that didn't color the tone as much and the EC won in that department.
