Anyone else not like 5751's in their modules?

When I first bought my Mod 50 I put JP 5751's in V1 of my T/D and VX modules. I noticed my tone being a little thin especially on the T/D. I thought it was the amp until I tried TS 12ax7's in V1 of the T/D and VX. The Twin side of the T/D now sounds awesome and the VX is a little bigger sounding. I play Tele's so that might be why I like the 12ax7's.

The Mod 50 continues to impress

I like it in my COD. I didnt like it in my T/D or Bman. In my Bman I found a Mesa 12AX7A really brought it to life. I usually play a Fender USA Deluxe, USA Strat, Gibson LP or PRS custom 24. The Strats sound the best.

I know a lot of people like the 5751 in their VX to keep it cleaner. I dime both gains on my VX and use my volume knob on my guitar. For some reason when the gains are on full I get better clean up when I rolled down my volume. I can go from clean to scream with a twist of the volume knob.

In the right situation, it's a good tube. In the COD it sounds great. I like it in the DLX and the VX.

I can see using it to get a different flavor out of the COD. I don't have a Bman, so I couldn't comment on that. For me, I really like to push my COD. That and I love the exagerated mids it has. I tried the 5751 in it, and it seemed to loose that nice oomph that it has when pushed. I definitely didn't like it in the T/D. The twin side seemed to loose a lot of depth, but the deluxe side did clean up a bit. I think this is a prime example of finding the tone that works with your hands and you guitar, no matter how you get there. If the same gear/tone worked for all of us, things would get really boring around here.

I really liked the 5751 in Ch 1 of my (recently sold) Renegade. Thought it was more organic, esp. for cleans, which is what I used Ch1 of the Renegade for mostly.

I'll be trying the 5751 out (again) when I get back into the modular stuff - I tried a 5751 in my T/D when I had an M4 before, and I didn't care for it too too much. I actually ended up sticking with the stock Sovtek 12AX7s in my modules the first time around  I'll see how it turns out this time....

Plus I use 6550s a lot...and those pack a LOT more punch than a lot of power tubes out there. I really liked the compression that the 5751 offer. I do agree...different strokes for different folks!!! :) That's the fun of it!!!

Oh...and I use the 5751 in my VX V1 also. I LOVE it in there.

I use the 5751 in my high gain Randall modules and in the PI spot. They just seem to add a good bit of clarity for me and I get a more extended range on the gain knob without loosing much gain at all.
