Thunderous. I didn't run them exclusively: 2xEL34, 2x6L6, 2xKT88. Monster thump and grind. Needs a full stack of Greenbacks.

I did, it fried my Herbert. Can't really give a comment on how it sounded because it blew fairly quick, had to send it to Peter to get it fixed.

Maybe it's just me but why in the world would anybody need more low end thump than the Herbert delivers with EL34 or KT77? It's a guitar amp not a bass amp.

well if it fkn fried it why the hell would manual say you can run them?

I had 6 KT88s in mine when i bought it used. ICE PICK highs..... Got rid of them asap.

I've been wanting to try 6l6s in my Herbert but the 34s sound great as is. The amp records like no other.

I did it. For the correct bias they do get pretty hot. peter doesn't reccomend them anymore but theres lots of people here that still do it. I put 2 kt88s, 2 6l6gc, and 2 el34s in mine and it sounded pretty good. I like 4 6l6's and 2 el34s the best...

In my case it was a faulty tube and Peter doesn't recommend them.
