Anyone find channel B of the TD module to be too compressed?

I bought the TD module instead of the DLX at the advice of Frank when I ordered my Mod 50. My goal is to have channel A be my glassy clean rhhythm channel, and channel B being my mild breakup/SRV solo tone for playing blues. When I heard the DLX samples on the Indoor Storm website that is exactly what I heard from the DLX module.

My TD is fine in channel A for the glassy clean rhythm tones, but channel b is either glassy clean with a fatter tone or fat and compressed. I want a more transparent light gain tone out of it and cant get it. Should I sell it and order a DLX or can I get the module modded?

When I talked to Jeff at NAMM, he said the next version of the TD would have
the Deluxe part voiced a little differently so the same EQ settings would work better with
both T and D, specifially less flubby bass on the D. Don't know if this might address your
issue, but you might to email Jeff or Bruce and see what they have in mind.
I'm hoping the current version can be retrofitted.

Ya we are in the process of getting this change to the bass switch values finalized.

I had the DLX module and sold it and got the T/D. I completely agree with your assement of the T/D. I can get the right tone of out the Channel B side but I have to pretty dramaticaly change the EQ knobs. What I can tell you is the "T" channel of the the T/D clean is not in the DLX module at all. So what you you would get is a much much smaller less glassy clean on the DLX and a great DLX breakup channel. Kind of a bummer... the T/D has such great cleans but I can not use the D channel without messing with the EQ. The DLX has a great breakup channel but too small and narrow of a clean for my style and taste (great for country chicken pickin though).

I have been using my B'Man module live for clean and SRV breakup. In the studio I have gone to the "T" channel of the T/D for most cleans.

Looks like I will need to send my T/D in to get upgraded to the new EQ once they finalize it. Jeff keep us posted.

Interesting. I had no idea the TD is getting an upgrade. I dont recall having too many issues with the shared EQ of the TD but I have been using the BMan almost exclusively live. I do use the T alot for recording though, definitely.

Tele, we really are tone brothers from different mothers!

We have found that if you use the boost on the bass for the T, then go to the D its way to much bass. So we are trying to balance them out better.

Really glad I found this thread. Thought I might be the only one that had problems with the TD's shared EQ.

Jeff,

When will you be accepting TD modules for modification? (Obviously not this week with the craziness you got going on at the shop. :D )

While we're on the subject of modding, is it possible to mod the bright switch so it only affects Ch A? I like the bright switch set to 1 for glassy cleans on Ch A but it leaves Ch B sounding too shrill. The problem is actually worse for me on the B'Man.

I guess it is each to his own. I personally love how I don't need to use a compressor to get those beautiful EJ type cleans with the TD ch B and a cranked power section with single coils.

I totally agree with John on this one,the T/D was an awesome mod, love both sides of it.I didn't need to hit the boost,it was sweet as is!
