I was wanting to try one through my Marshall. I was hoping if I traded my Keeley SD-1 for a week or two only. Even if you're not interested in temporarily parting with it please give me a quick review of it. I actually had one about 4-5 years ago, but I had a Bogner Uberschall so I'm sure the results would be quite different with my Marshall.

I forgot if we even tried the BB Preamp through your VM on Sunday? I know we had your modded SD-1 on it which sounded killer  And after eading about the Plank Cranker I'm really interested in the HBE pedals. The Power Screamer is something i really want to try. I mostly use the R2 channel of my Mark III as a platform to try pedals on since the lead channel really doesn't need much of a boost.

Yeah Paige plugged me into the BB and it got very "metal".

I think you're in my area (Upstate NY). PM me and I'll let you check out my Keeley modded Rat for a week if you like. Here's a few OD's I currently have:

Baber Direct Drive
Barber EQ (good boost)

Hey man, how does the HBE Powerscreamer stack up against the likes of the BB Preamp, OCD, or the modded Keeley pedals? I'm looking for something the boost my Mesa Boogie Mark III just a little bit on the lead channel, just for extra sustain. That lead channel really doesn't need much of a boost. But i want a pedal that has an extra boost for more gain because i want to boost my R2 channel for more gain and tightness. Thanks.

Thanks man!!!! You got a PM. I'll get it back to you shortly. Just want to see what it can do with the Vintage Modern.

The HBE PS is agreat pedal. Definetly in the tubescreamer relm. I really like the boost fuction on this pedal. It will really depend on your amp how this pedal responds. I've never played a Mesa Mark III so its hard to elaborate on a good fit pedal wise.

The BB, OCD and Barber DD are similar IMO. The BB is more compressed and allows for greater control over treble and base. You can't go wrong w/ a OCD. Tone is very organic and thier is allot of gain on tap. The Barber is one of my favorites. Its bigger, open and more amp like than the previuosly mentioned pedals. Has a marshall vibe. The Keeley Rat offers what I want in a lead pedal. Less is more w/ this pedal. You have to take some time to tweak it w/ your amp or it will just be overkill. The knobs are very sensitive so a slight c-hair to the right or left makes a big difference, but the tone is worth the tweaking. The Freakshow BR is a great Rat pedal. The knobs have a better sweep than my Keeley. It is the current pedal I'm using w/ my Suhr Badger.

If you're just looking to goose your Mark III just a tad you might want to try the Xotic RC boost. Extremey transparent. I used it w/ my Splawn and received excellent results.

Yeah, i want something to step on to give the Mark III just a slight bit of sustain on the lead channel, but then i want to step on the same pedal again for an extra boost for more gain on the R2 channel. I was looking at pedals that have an extra boost. I really don't feel like spending the money for the BB+. I just don't think a stompbox is worth close to $300.

I do like the fact that the HBE Powerscreamer has that switch to adjust the compression.

The FD2 is a great pedal. I've been using it for a while with a JCM800. I'm actually debating selling it though... Mine is the slightly older version - no MOSFET, that I bought from Thump a couple years ago.

Hey man, you should wait a week or two for the Plank Cranker reviews to come out. As of right now, the first 15 pedals will be shipped to me tomorrow. I'll need a week or so to test them and get them out. I'm expecting the first 15 people to have them in their hands soon. Some will love it and some will put it up for sale. lol... I think the "boost" mode on it is freaking killer and you may like it as well. It's very "full range" meaning there's not annoying treble or woofy bass. Just a very nice sounding boost to me.

Yeah, i missed out on the whole damm thing  But yes, I'm sure someone will sell one.
