Found a used one for a somewhat decent price.

One thing I wonder if you can flip that neck pickup around to get a traditional
Lester tone. Or is there more to it (wiring etc)

I'm sure it is a decent guitar and down the road, just having the signature name on it will result in the price going up. I'd get it personally.

As far as I'm aware the wiring isn't any different, just the magnet is flipped and the pickup is reverse mounted. I've heard really good things about the pickups. I was interested when they were announced but preferred it to be gloss from the factory. Have seen some really good deals on used ones.

I just sold mine -- it's the magnet in the neck pickup that needs to be flipped. I just put a different pickup in it. It sounds fine on its own, however I got tired of the out-of-phase tone quickly.

The 50's Les Paul Standard Faded models are the same guitar with different hardware and pickups.

I've been seeing a lot of crappy QA coming from Gibson the past couple of years. I got lucky with a superb ES-335, but had to return 2 AJ LPs, and every Mustaine V I picked up had issues. I love my Gibbys, but don't think I'll ever spend new $ on one again, and will never ever buy one without playing it first.

Never played an Epiphone I liked. And I've tried!!!

I had one for a while. It was a great guitar, but I like the regular middle position tone more than the out of phase peter green thing so I sold it.

My 2019 Les Paul Standard is perfect. One of the best LPs I've played and came off the factory line. Still smelled like a bottle of Bourbon in the case.

I think it is good to try out a guitar when you can. I think some brands, like Fender or Ltd, seem to not sway as much. I can pick up a Strat and most times if it is a decent one, will feel and sound thr same.

Not sure what the price is on the one you're looking at, but a few weeks ago GC had these for $2,200 as part of the "member's cart" discount or whatever it was. You could probably call them and get that deal, if it's comparable to what you were looking at. Obviously ymmv with what you'd end up with.
