My friends are looking at one so they can run their 2 axe efx into it as effectively 2 racked amps. They tried one at a pawn shop and apparently just running into the "b" block, with "a" turned off, no sound and with "a" turned on, running signal into the b block, there was sounds coming out of the speaker cab from block "a".

I've never used one, but that just doesn't sound right... it sounds to me like someone tried to rewire it to run as a single power amp...

I don't know why it would be rewired when Marshall makes their Dual power amps with the capability of being run in bridged mode. It may have other issues.

I have owned a 9100. They are big, way f'n heavy, and kinda sterile. I tried running my Axe into it, but the 9100 felt like a solid state power amp. I sold it, tried several others, and finally ended up choosing a 2:90.

The Mesa is a MUCH better power amp, imo, and that's coming from a Marshall guy who definitely doesn't like Mesa amps.

most guys swear by the FRFR setup with 1x15/horns for the axe-fx, any reason to keep from doing so here?

FWIW i would recommend a mesa 2:100 over the simulclass - either are a good choice though. never really cared for the 9100 tones and it does not sound like it is sound - A should work A, B should work B.

Get a Matrix GT800FX

/thread (it's seriously that good with the Axe and Cabs)

My guitarist uses one in his rack setup. I think his is fucked up like that too. He only uses it bridged mono. If I remember right, he can't use it in stereo. He's been looking to trade it off for a good head, especially since our other guitarist has been devouring him with a Modded JCA100H.

I'd vote for the Mesa poweramps too. I've heard the same rig my guitarist uses through a Mesa and it does sound a lot better.
