It turns on . . I retubed the preamp tubes and it didn’t fix it
You just get a quiet crackle of noise when you play . Barely audible
Please help
Tech

And the power tubes look lit up as normal Nick? Feels more like a power tube issue. This is a good time to ask though we have all the Mark-Talk dudes checking in.

The power tubes look great . Before Mike b put new caps in it a restored it . It kinda sounds like that . My amp tech won’t touch mesa boogie
. I played less than 8 hrs in 2 years

Write to Mesa and make them pay for shipping and fixing it.

Next step (for me anyway) would be to check the Phase Inverter 'preamp' tube. I believe this would be V5 which sits by itself in the middle. I know you said you swapped them all, just double check with a known good 12a preamp tube. Didn't listen to video. Leaving for dinner. Good luck.

Mark guys here will know.

At least it is not oscillating. :dunno:

Mike B s saying the other cap sounds blown

I have a quad of something I can send you cracker. If you want to try that. I would probably pull a quad out of something else and try that just for the hell of it.

Did you try anything I suggested in your other thread about this?

Mike B knows these inside out and will turn it around faster than any one of us could.

I would suspect an issue with an LDR. They didn’t use relays back then. If the amp wasn’t completely recapped then that’s what he probably means - one of the low voltage electrolytic caps on the main board that don’t get a lot of attention.

This is why I have “tube amp anxiety” constantly.. it dosent matter what company, old or new, serviced or not.. sooner or later there is going to be a time consuming expensive pain in the ass. hope you get it worked out without much hassle
