I have some pretty decent amps that I’d like to start getting some recordings/demos of. I’ve done the SM57 and interface into computer with so so results. This looks to make things a lot easier to get pretty good results.

I have the OX and Suhr… definitely simpler operation for recording with the Suhr. Yank the stock IRs though, they’re fine but there’s much better out there. OX has its merits too but at the moment it’s going years without updates. It’s great primarily if you’re trying to play with headphones.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Reason I was asking is they’re on sale at GC. Get a new one for around the price of a used one.

Personally I wouldn’t spend $1100 on one just for recording. If you want the attenuation aspect as well, I’d look at the PS100 or PS2 before the ox. The ox is about to be discontinued and UA does not support or update the product at all from what I’ve heard from users. Suhr for just recording, Fryette for direct to daw plus attenuation if you want to go that route.

I've been using the Two Notes Torpedo Reload for a few years. Great for recording, re-amping, and attenuation. I've been curious about the Suhr but not sure if it would make a noticeable difference/improvement.

If you’re just going to use it for recording I’d get the Suhr reactive load w/o the ir loader. You’ll Save a few hundred bucks, plus same tech if you plan on using your own IRs loading then in your daw. I think the best out there is the st rock IR, but unfortunately with the stuff in Ukraine right now it’s unobtainable.

Dont give up on micing your own stuff up. It is difficult to learn and to get it right. But after you do, it’s the best. For me personally I use an sm57 where dust cap meets the cone, half on the cone half on the dust cap. Run the amp LOUD. Then into my universal audio Apollo, I use unison running the Neve pre amp, and it sounds absolutely killer. Other thing that can hamper you is having a crappy reamp box if you’re going that right. For good cheap reamp boxes the signal art stuff works pretty great.

With the Suhr RL IR I can attenuate and use whatever IR I want and go into my UA Apollo/Logic?

Thanks for all the replies. I’m thinking I’m heading for the Captor X at the moment. I still need to get an interface and new laptop as well. I don’t need a million options or 60 IR’s. I just need one or two things that work well. Just going to keep it simple.
