Anyone here using the Axe FX as effects unit with a Diezel?

I'm really thinking about purchasing an Axe Fx, cause when i do a rough calculation of everything i still need to get (starting from compressor to Whammy, Midi-routing system for all pedals, etcetc., let alone all the cables involved, and not even think about all the shipping costs as you msut get every pedal from a different source here...then trying it out and having to return it etcetc...), i'm already close to Axe-price-range...and a Rack-Wah...you know the deal.

Anyway: I was wondering if anyone uses/used/tried out the Axe FX (Ultra) as Effectsprocessor WIHTOUT amp modelling, and preferable via 4-cable method, and can tell me about how the AD/DA-conversions affect the signal (if).

I dont want to ask on the Fractal Forum, because all i will get is "Dude, its the best blabla"-responses. But i know, we Diezel Users are picky bitches when its up to our guitar-signal and tone - so... :D

I am using it like this. I'll give you a longer response when I have more time tonight.

Dude, I had the AF and bought a G-Major II later to replace it.
The difference of 1000 Euros got me a new guitar.

Olaf has a bloody good point there, what is the point in having an Axe-Fx if you are going to forgo the modeling which is really the point in the device. I will second that TC gmajor rec as for the money they are top value and top quality to boot.

I got that a bit wrong worded in my first post - my MAIN sound would still be the Herbert of course. BUT: we reduced to 1 guitar a few months ago, and with the Axe I could do a stereo setup: main sound ("left", if you want): Herbert + Axe + Cab, normally miced...the other side: Herbert pre + Axe Poweramp/Cab/Mic-sim, sent directly to the PA, maybe with a few ms-delay, to "emulate" a second guitar. It would also be a useable "B"/emergency-rig, just in case.

The reason why i asked the question the way i did, was, i already know how good the amp-sims etc. are, and the "second guitar" stuff, i could also do with a POD pro or similar, much cheaper...but i dont want something with "sub"-optimal AD/DA conversion, because haveing it set up with the 4-cable-method, it would constantly decline my sound. POD for example.

For the G-Major II: is the AD/DA conversion better than on the first model? Because i wasnt satisfied enough with the old model, to having it in the chain constantly.
