I love the 25 and now I'm getting curious...

I'm also starting to side-eye the Ironball SE for my hotel direct-recording rig...

I think you’d be happier with the Ironball SE with the fireball 25.

I was looking at the fireball 100 a while ago and although I’ve not owned one, every clip comparison I ever found that included the fireball 100 didn’t seem to sound as pleasant as an Engl SEFE. The mids just seem to sit more naturally on all channels of the SE. It didn’t matter who recorded either one or whether it was a phone clip or not. The fireball 100 seems to be low mids and a bit more rough around the edges/less polished/less musically mastered sounding. For the price the fireball 100 offers a lot but it does begin to show why it’s priced the way it is when you start comparing it against other models with more tonal shaping options/features.

see; i had a different experience. now i had the fb60, and i found the fireball smoother and a more polished gain than my 5150II i was pairing it with. the 60 was just loud enough to run in stereo, but couldnt keep up on its own. coulda used the 100...
the ironball se was amazing with all the features and it sounded sick, just wouldnt hold together at band volume. at all. as glgp80 said though; recording-wise the ironball is the shit.

I really wish they made an ironball se 100 with power scaling. It would give the se FE a run for its money.

oh for real. an all in one recording/live amp with the effects as well. i feel like there are amps out there now that are trying to do that, but it seems it would be easy to just add a power section to the ironball se....? i almost kept it and fed it to a sd powerstage.

How’s the silent record/ir loader function on the Ironball? That’s how I’d have to use it. I’m currently using a Badlander 25, which works great for silent recording, I’m just liking the Engl voicing better for what I do.
