Anyone play the Diamond Amps?

I remember when they first were announced. I don't think I've seen anything concrete happen with them. At least nothing here.

Played the Spec-Op. Pretty cool amp. REALLY REALLY aggressive gain channels, and really nice cleans. Dont care for the cabs though.

I gave them a fair shot, really thought the REV2 krank i had tried right before it blew it away. After i played the spec op I played both ccv and ccm camerons so maybe thats not fair lol but I really wasnt impressed , pretty muddy and almost solid state sounding...

I haven't had a chance to try one yet, but three days ago I was talking to a touring pro guitarist (he's a total gearhead) and we were discussing amps when he happened to mention how he hated the Diamond amps.

I haven't tried them yet, but I'd like to. One thing you'll notice if you scour other forums is the opinions on them are VERY polarized. I've seen on some other forums where some with rather respected opinions like them very much, but for some the mere mention of the name makes their blood curdle  . I know this can be found regarding any amp, but this one definately ranks up there with how polarized the opinions are. It's also worth mentioning that a lot of the diamond bad mouthing stems from reasons other than tone. I won't try and explain because I don't know all the details and I don't want to spread stuff half truths regarding the matter. With that said, you'd better try it out yourself.

Nope but I heard they were designed by this guy. :scared:

Curious... spec Op, Spitfire, Phantom?

I owned a Spec Op for a very short time. The amp had a lot of flexibility with clean, two gains, and a boost, but I could not get a decent tone out of any of the channels.

I really love amps that have a ton of flexibility without having one good tone. I can get 100 shitty sounding tones and no good ones, really a strong foundation for building an amp.

I just looked at these the other day, but didn't demo one. I noticed the had SRS?? labeled 12AX7 & EL34 tubes in them?? Don't know what the heck those are.

Dude, I was trying to help out by letting you know the tone sucked. Sorry you took it the wrong way.

It seems to me that you took his comment the wrong way.

Ok played Spitfire... plexi type but with gain. Cleans kicked ass. Also has a switch for Fender like tone very nice. Articulate. Not saturated more clean gain if that makes sense. They make other amps for more saturation. Good channel 2, ability to switch to solo boost with more or less gain. I would of liked it a little more saturation though.
