I'm working on a Tele project, and since I already have a standard MIA Tele, I wanna hot-rod this one and try to make it sound like an old Les Paul - cause why not?? ;)

And if you haven't tried this one, what are some others you would recommend?

Thanks!
Jordan

I had a lil 59 in my tele project for a bit. It's a nice pup, but in the end I went with a Quarter Pounder- I was looking for more of a P90 tone. The lil 59 is not going to make it sound like a Les Paul, but it will sound good. :)

Yeaaa...I realize it'll never quite sound exactly like a LP, if I wanted a LP I'd buy one, I've just got this Tele layin' around and I need a PUP to throw in there - I may check out that Quarter Pounder too - I'm not set on any certain tone yet, but I know I want something different than my PRS and Tele.

A good friend of mine put a Little '59 in a strat and it sounded great. Not like an LP but still great.

Is the Quarter Pounder a noisy single coil, when used in medium to "higher" gain applications?

I know it's a fantastic sounding pickup, and I've often thought about trying them out in one of my Strats, but I am worried about the noise.....

My buddy put a 59 in his Tele and I thought it was too dark sounding.

I currently have one in my Tele and hate it with a passion. I'm just not playing it until my BG Rockwind gets here. The 59' is really thin and honky sounding.

If you want fat Les Paul-esque tones.......go with the Dimarzio Chopper T or the Duncan Quarter Pounder if you don't mind the hum. I've used those in past Teles and they sound great.

My buddy put a Dimarzio HOT Area T in his tele and it rips! Thats what Im gonna get for my Baja Tele.

I mostly play a MIM tele with a BKP Piledriver... you would not believe this pickup was a single coil.

Wasn't bad, but seemed to lose the tele character altogether. Couldn't tell what kind of guitar you were playing just by listening. I've got a Fralin SP42 in there now and it is perfect for me. Noisy though, but I'll live.

Lots of companies make a P-90 type of tone/output tele pickup. I've listened to the clips and they all sound good. I went with the Fralin.

i want to order a lil' custom..but fuck..200$ ....that's a bit steep.

Really? That's discouraging - but thanks for the input...I read this same thing somewhere else and the dude said he absolutely hated it, but then he adjusted the height (I think he raised it) and he said it was the best PUP he'd ever heard...who knows... :aww:

Well, that's kinda what I'm going for - although I don't want it to lose its mojo, I just want something a little different sounding than m other guitars.

Well, I play it through my 5153 all the time and haven't noticed it being any noisier than any other single-coil pickup. There is a bit of hum when you're not playing, but one you start playing you can't hear it. IMHO, it' a great pickup that is very P90ish with a bit more mid push than you standard P90. Great rock tone.
