i was thinkin of getting an overdrive pedal for herbert,i know ch 2 and 3 have loads of gain but i was wondering what a good overdrive would do for it? Klon? Blackstone? i see tremonti uses a Klon,i love his tone as well.yes i have a triple recto, but nothing ive ever heard sounds like a diezel.so overdrive?

I've tried numerous ODs, distortions, and all they seem to do is add noise (Ch 2 & 3). I have to keep reminding myself that I bought this amp b/c I didn't need to supplement it. It's only GAS that has caused me to even try.

Stu

Yes, same experience.  From time to time I watch myself looking for some new preamps or stomp boxes. Realizing it, I instantly let my Einstein blow all this stupid GAS thoughts away. And I'll be sure again I don't need nothing to improve my sound or add more flexibility

Can't imagine using a box to overdrive a high gain head like this. I can't push the gain knob anywhere near it's max. The only way I'd use an overdrive is if I can't get the gain I want with the knob maxed. That's the point in high gain amps. I might use one with a plexi, non master volume, or JCM 800 style amp.

I agree with the above.

TS-808 + Einstein = instant Dimebag

Whether that's a good thing I'll leave up to you!

I use OD pedals to shape the tone in different ways, not to add gain. I've had good experience with the Maxon OD-9 and the Lovepedal Eternity. EQs can be cool too.

Yes! i use a external 30 Band EQ in the switching loop. Works great and allowed competley different sounds!
