i liked them awhile back, but haven't played them in a long time.

if i remember the feel and tone are good, but they wear very fast.

they have slicker feel and are pretty fast.

hey man im all about the Dunlop Jazz 3 picks there amazing
I use the red Jazz III's, the Ultex Jazz III's and a Red Bear Jazz, but I'm specifically wondering how the Lexan holds up on the Stubby picks.

Really? That surprises me as Lexan is really tough stuff. I guess the constant friction on the strings would be enough to wear them down though...

I work with Lexan ocassionally it is not that durable compared to some nylon plastics..

i just did a bunch of pick testing with like 15 different types of picks and that was one of them. i thought i might like them but they drove me nuts real fast. the indent is a great idea....however...for a guy like me who grips the pick very close to the tip it forced my fingers to slide into the indent much farther away from where i normally hold the pick close to the tip making it real awkward to play with. also for lack of a better term they sound real plinky and plasticy due to the lexan material. i'm not a fan of them.

I didn't think about that indent effecting my grip. I hold my pick close to the tip too, so I'd probably have the same problem. Thanks. I'll stick with what I have for now.

what picks are you using now that you like?
I like the Ultex Jazz III's a lot, the standard red Jazz III's, and the Red Bear Jazz. I like to alternate every now and then for different feel. Just seeing what else is out there.

The ultex Jazz III is way better. The little jazz-size stubbies are cool every once in a while but they wear much faster than the ultex and the grip isn't as good.

if you like the regular jazz III i highly suggest trying the max grip version in both red and carbon fiber. i couldn't play regular size jazz III picks since i felt like the hulk holding those tiny things and they would always slip. so i played the jazz III XL version for a long time. however the max grip regular size jazz III kick ass and even though the size is the same tiny midget pick that added grip makes them so much better and more playable.

of the other picks i recently tried that i really like were the monster size 2mm thick gator grips. i worked for a long time to achieve a lighter pick attack and these things are real great if you're not a guy who pounds the heck out of your strings...which i'd guess you aren't if you use jazz III size picks. since they're so thick the edge/side area is nice and round and slips over the strings with ease for alternate picking and such. may be worth a try if you want something different and for $4 for a dozen it's not a big (when it comes to picks) investment like the red bear.

I used to use big stubbies until I tried Dunlop Jazztone 208. Large pointed durable does not slip. Check one out

Jazztones all the way.

+2

I use the purple 2.0mm and they do wear down faster than you would think. I bought them for the indent as I was learning some funky rhythm stuff and was losing picks left and right and these did work for me.

My drummer has a pile at his house that I wore down enough that I did not want them any longer.

I tried a big stubby for a while but the attack was very far from what i like, also couldn't get used to the matterial.+1 to Jazz xl for me.
