the amps Master volume?

In some sessions with Dann Huff a few years back, he was able to swell in or
fade out, go from a huge power ballad chorus to a quite part in an instant
using his axe with the full gain, distortion or clean, but with the tone never changing
never using the guitar volume knob. (which would change the tone)

This gave him awesome control over some great parts and vibe of the song.
(Studio refrigerator rack and bradswaw switching system)

Likewise, I just want to keep my tone the same but raise or lower the "master volume" with a volume pedal.
Will the seril efx loop do the same in a eggie head and speaker cab config?
or (i could hire a kid to stand next to my amp and work the master ;) )

Anyone doing this?

I do that w/in my Lexicon MPXG2. I have a volume pedal right after my noise gate, which gates my tone after gain (basically the send of the Mod50). I have the volume pedal after my delays, so I can swell in and out, without affecting my delay trailoffs.

so you're saying in theory, I could do the same w/ effect pedals and a volume pedal at the end? if so I am a happy man!

thanks

yep you will. i'm not doing it "in theory" i'm doing it the same exact way you would, except I use a volume pedal patch in my mpxg2.

Ernie Ball makes a model #6167 25k-ohm pedal specifically for use in the effects loop of an amp with great results.
I use one in my rack setup after my effects and before the power amp allowing me to not change my tone or overdrive, just the volume.

Perfect for use in the Mod amps Serial effects loop.

The pedal is stereo but can be used for mono operation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the volume pedal is after the delay it will cut of the trails--but placed before the delay trails will still be there even if you cut the volume, no?

I meant to say after noise gate but BEFORE the delays :). Good catch. So the volume pedal is after the noise gate but before the delays.
