Howdy anyone using the M4 with the axe FX?

I heard the dual channel version has no FX loop and I am wondering how they would hook it up ? I understand 4 cable method , but would they just go into the FX , send to in of the M4 , out of the M4 back to the return of the FX?

Thanks ..I have been using the Axe Fx for a while and love it ...I use Axe Fx into a mesa 20/20 ....with 2 mesa 2X212 V30's ....I have an Egnater Mod 50 which I would like to use as my main sound , but can't run it without a load or speaker etc... I was contemplating going with an M4 which should work ..but just not sure how to make it work without the FX loop of the M4

Thx

You would do this:

Guitar > Axe

Axe loop send > M4 input

M4 output > Axe loop return

Axe Main out > Mesa 20/20

It's how I run my M4, just with a different processor, with excellent results.

Mboogman is right. However, be prepared for a ground loop when using the Axe with the M4. Those 2 units can have issues when used together.

Rareguitar used that setup for a while.

For what...like 2 weeks. :) I know that friedman said there was iso transformers involved.

I've been using this setup for a while: Guitar -> (front or rear input) M4 (output) -> (input #2) AxeFx (output #2) -> RT2/50 [power amp]. You have to do some tweaking with the M4's master level and the AxeFx Input 2 level, but once you get it right it sounds fantastic.

I tried the 4-cable method (Guitar -> AxeFx -> M4 -> AxeFx -> RT2/50) but I could never get the AxeFx -> M4 level right. I've been meaning to try it again now that I'm more familiar with the AxeFx.
IIRC, the 4-cable method does have a ground loop problem. I think I fixed it by using a 1/4" cable with only the tip connected for one of the connections between the AxeFx and the M4. An ISO box would also work.

One of my favorite things about the AxeFx is that it can be run in series and not sound digital. I used to use a mixer to run my FX in parallel but I don't need it with the AxeFx. The AxeFx simplified my rig.
