I have been using the X modded Bassman for a while now. I am liking the X modded SL2 and EG3/4 but the Xman has yet to grow on me. For rehearsal and gigs, I tend to keep the selector on the treble pickup so I don't have to be switching pickups during a song. For this reason, I like a very warm clean. The Xman seems to add bite where I might not want bite. Am I the only one or are you guys loving the Xman?

I'm kind of with you Rich. I like mine, but not quite love it. Still going to play with it some more though.

I'm not like either of you,I really like it :D but I'm different

We know you are "different" Jason!!!

I do like it for rocking, but since I have several rockin' modules........may need to keep this one more bluesy. Don't know for sure yet though.

That's actually a good definition of it. Takes the bluesy-ness of the Bman, and adds a rock and roll bite.

It's not for everyone, and not for every application, but when it works it works.

Easily reversible too, Buckeye - send 'er back and I'll swap it back for free.

Do you have the SL2X and EG3/4X? I think they work fine, but for me...not the Xman.

why would anyone want to do that to the bman? channel b of the bman is already a tad too bright for me.

The "X" mod doesn't make it brighter. If anything, it makes it less bright.

It shifts that sparkly brightness down to the upper-midrange region. Kind of makes it crunchier, less crispy... Gives it less treble presence, but more upper midrange punch.

If you think the Xman is too bright, as-is, you'd actually like the Xman.

Mod50(TS6550s),TM212's(2),GT75/E80's and the Xman with the Cobra,MCP loaded OWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :D
Tap,tap no erasees :D

If there's one thing I've learned from working on modules and studying Bruce's designs, it's that one part can effect EVERYTHING. A small cap change can shift the frequency-focus for the entire module, and really give it a different voice.

If that voice is better, or worse, is up to you, your guitar, your pickups, your rig, and your ears.

that is very bad news. now i might have to check it out ...

with that said, i don't want to change anything to the a channel of the bman.

same thing with eg 3/4: eg3 can't be improved imho; while i could use an eg4 that's a tad tighter and a little more open.

and as much use the eg5 gets around here, sometimes i'd ike to un-x it. it could need less sizzle and more bark. john Czajkowski's a/b between eg5 and hbe really got me interested in a friedman module.

That's the hardest part about the modules, is that due to the physical size of the module and board, and space limitations, both channels HAVE to share a certain amount of components. So you can't totally tweak each channel to be 100% independent, per se. But there are a few things you can do to make tweaks.

That's kinda why you can't have an ERECT/BMAN module, or anything wacky like that. Different tone stacks, parts, etc.

yeah, and it's stupid complaining. they could all be one channel modules – we'd love them anyway!

I find the Bassman is warmer stock, both on channel A and B.....so there nick!
Sounds too harsh and thin/trebly to my ears with the X mod. Naha...nanaha....
I agree with Jeff on this one.
