Anyone Using Their M4 in the Loop of Another Amp?

Curious. Was just considering a w/d/w set up with my Lonestar and thought I might try the M4 in it's loop.

Wouldnt the lonestar color the tone of the M4's modules?!?

if you plug in to the return only and run your guitar into the M4 it will bypass the eq section of the mesa. It will only use the power amp section and only that will give it a little mesa flavor.

yup, what jlbaxe said. I plan on running my m4 into my mod50 once it arrives.

SOunds ridiculously good through the Egnater Seminar head's FX return.

HOWEVER, every preamp sounds like ass through my Mesa Blue Angel's parallel loop. :aww:

If the lonestar is parallel, you might experience shitty tone.

It might sound great too. Go ahead and try preamps through it and see if it works well.

you have to run it through a series loop, with the amps preamp bypassed or turned off/down for it to essentially be m4--> your amps poweramp.

I ran my M4 into a Randall RM50 head which is basically the same as a MOD 50 power section. Best power amp I have ever heard.

I do a W/D setup everyone once in a while w/ my Mod50 and VHT 2/90/2. Pretty damn cool setup. The M4 will sound great into any good power amp. My favorite power amps are VHT 2/90/2, VHT 2150, Mod50, Marshall JCM 800 power section w/ a pre-eq return.

When I had a Seminar head, the M4 sounded massive through that too!

I'll know what an M4 sounds like through a CAE OD100se+'s power section sometime early next week :).

 :rawk:

The OD100SE+ is a very nice amp. Be curious to hear what you think of the overdrive channel compared to EG5. I had 5 minutes with it cranked in the Suhr booth and thought it sounded bad ass. It was pretty stiff and tight from what I remember.

You should feel lucky to have had that much time with it   that place was packed!

Well...knowing me, I'm gonna love it... I much prefer a really tight, and punchy amp vs one that has too much sag. If it is as bad ass as I hope it is, I'm gonna send it off to Suhr to get the 3-channel option. Someday I've gotta get me a Suhr modern w/ a Floyd. I normally don't like floyd's but Mark's Modern looks pretty awesome. Not ready to spend that kinda coin on a guitar though. Probably would just have my luthier make me one w/ parts from Warmoth!
