Are 2 Diezels better than 1? (Peter I already know your answer)

Since I love my Herbert so much, I have been wanting to check out another Diezel amp for some time now. I've recently sold off some stuff so I'm thinking about buying either a VH4 or an Einstein. I really don't have the opportunity to play one before I buy, unless I happen to stumble across one somewhere in my travels like when I first played a Herbert. I'm leaning towards the VH4 because of the Tool/Metallica connection - two bands I like - but I think I should at least consider the Einstein.

Am I wasting my money due to the fact that there is a lot of overlap in the tones of these amps - such that I can get close enough with the Herbert? If not, which amp is the most different from the Herbert?

Do the VH4 and Einstein both sound good at low volumes like the Herbert?

Given the choice between the 2. Which amp would you buy and why (price differences aside)?

If you love/dislike either of these amps - why do you love/dislike it?

Well, I have been having a really hard time with amps lately thanks to Diezel. Everything keeps coming up short when I compare. The others just don't have the clarity and low end and hi-fi sound like my Einstein.

You really have to play them to see which you prefer, but the Einstein would probably be more tonal variance from your Herbert than the VH4....I'm probably going to wait for the Schmidt to come out this Fall to buy another amp as I have already returned 2 amps that I purchased from Guitar Center after a/b-ing them against Diezel.
 
I think tonally the VH-4 is not as close to the Herbert as the Einstein is...completely subjective statement! - so I'd go for the VH-4, which I find to be less compressed than the Herbert. It's also less forgiving when you screw up. :D
 
There is a Einstein at a local GC here in H-Town, broseph. That is if you wanted to check one out. However, having owned both the Herbert and VH4 at the same time........and having run them together, in stereo......GET A VH4. It's pretty beastly sounding.

I found the VH4 to be different enough from the Herbert and from the Einstein that the choice is merely what you feel you desire to play through.

Yes, all of these amps can get close in sound to each other, but they are different enough that you will not really tend to set them up that way.

I am currently waiting to try a Schmidt as between the class A wiring, power tube saturation and different sound it gets as a result of it's design, it should be as different an amp as each of the other Diezel amps are from one model to the next.
 
Yep...waiting on Schmidt...

But my above comment stands: If it's between the VH-4 and the Einstein, and money is not an issue, I'd go for the VH-4.

And if there should be another model coming at the end of this year, add that too :D ;)
 
thanks for the advice. to be honest. I haven't even read up on the Schmidt so I'll have to do that. I'm thinking VH4 but now I have an Einstein within driving distance so at least I'll get to check one out.

Ans - thanks for the intel. I saw you got the UL. How does it compare to a VH4. From the way people describe the VH4, I've imagined it would be similar to the UL but with a Diezel voicing.
 
ugh, I'm still waiting on receiving my Herbert...it ships out today thank god!
