Argh! Einstein with no load for 2 seconds!

During some cabinet testing I was doing today between my Mesa and Bogner cabs, the phone rang. I came back after answering it, forgetting the amp wasn't in standby and switched the cabs over. Now, the amp only saw no load for a maximum of 2 seconds, if that, and it sounds fine.

I hope I haven't done any damage...

Also, could you elaborate on why it's no problem? I'm over the fact that I did it now, I'm just curious

Sorry, lots to do . . . money isn't here yet, normally it takes a week.

The power was eaten up by the screen grid resistors (you have two of them, rated 5 Watts each) and the winding of the overbuilt OT. With normal volume you would produce 5-10 Watts, both can easily handle that for some seconds without a problem.

Should be fine. I once had one of my amps on with no load for a good 30-60 seconds, it was chopping like crazy, but didn't do any damage thankfully!
