Armored Amps. Anyone with any experience with them?

Thoughts on Armored Amps? How are these voiced, are the "plexi" or high gain.. or?

I almost got one. They are very well priced and killertone seemed to like his. But in the end, i heard horrible things about them and passed. This is all with the sabot. Definitely high gain

Not sure if that is the link where guy hates the amp and thinks something wrong with it, sends it back and guy says it sounds right, lmao. I know some guys hate everything. But that is scary as shit.

"No sir, the amp is fine. That shitty sound you hear is just the voicing.."
 
Never played one but I think I'd have the same experience as the SS.org poster.

Some of the YouTube clips sound good, especially in a mix. Doesn't sound bad at all, in fact it sounds good. I just don't like the voicing.

Has that fat upper mid thing going on and that isn't me. But if you like that sound go for it IMO sounds great for what it is intended to do.
 
I had a Sabot when they first came out. I sent it back within a day. Amp had lots of issues.

That said, the owner was respectful and saw the issues and provided me a full refund including shipping.
 
I got an Armored Skitzo(the Sentinal prototype) a while back. Still haven't even seen it, but I heard it's ok.
 
Yeah. I've been on the road. Haven't made it over to juggernauts house yet. I did get a chance to play my new Monomyth modded Marshall VM at bloodrocks house though. Yes, it definitely kicks ass. I'm willing to bet the Armored head will be good even of I have to boost and eq it.

Bumping this old thread for some of thoughts.

The extra gain stage on the V3 make this amp the perfect modern thrash/metal head amp.

Completely changes the sound and feel of the amp.
 
I have a Gen 3 Sabot and, if I had to pick one high gain sound from all 120+ amps I've owned as my favorite of all time, it would be one in this amp. I've heard the earlier versions weren't that great, but that hasn't been my experience with the 3rd Gen at all. It's mean. Absolutely the most filthy and brutal sounding amp I've ever heard. It leans on the Jose Modded Plexi side as far as my ears can tell. Closest sounding amp I can think of is a Fortin Meshuggah, maybe a Cali, though my friend's Skeleton Key can get kinda close, too. Only complaint with the Sabot is that it's fairly noisy. Not too terrible, but definitely more so than any other amp I own and, because of it, it actually has a low volume squeal under the distortion if I don't have a certain combination of switches on my Fryette PS-1 set correctly.
