i am ordering a custom guitar that will have a maple neck and maple fretboard.
deciding on
1)ash body
2)mahogany/ maple top
3)mahogany/koa top
4) koa body

which will be the thicker/meatier/in your face

played w/same pickup and same amp in a live situation

For what type of music and what body shape? Also did you have a certain pickup/ set of pickups on mind already? Pickups can be very wood dependent.

does the body shape plays apart ? btw is it a neck thru or bolt on /setneck ? both will be different , if not wrong a neck thru guitar will have an overall tone off from the wood of the neck where bolted on/setneck would be based on the body wood type..

mahogany would sounds thick ... but with a cap on top it sort of tighten up abit ie maple cap ?
koa would also fall into mahogany category same as limba...

I'm partial to mahogany bodies with maple tops. All of my tone monsters are mahogany or mahogany with a maple top.
