Hello, I just wanted to see if anyone is using power attenuators when playing out. I use a renegade head and tm2112 cab, The reason I ask is that some of the places we are going to be playing soon require me to keep my volume down a bit more but don't want to sacrifice tone. Any idea's?

I using THD Hotplate in Home with my Armageddon head and TM212 cab, it works good and pretty quiet...
Or without hotplate, i put thick blanket on to cab, the sound is enough quiet and very cool...

Make sure you have the ability to either return it or audition it in the store with your amp. Attenuators sound great with some amps and can actually make others sound worse. This isn't a slam on either the use of attenuators or on certain amps. It's just a fact, IMO.

Let us know what you find.

Remember the more you go up in volume and attenuate the more the EQ is in the power tubes, except the webber mass lite 50 attenuator has a bass -mids and a mids-highs controls for the output section, thats why i chose to buy the webber, its in transit.
will let u know how well it works ,it was well under $200

I run the Webber mass lite 50watt attenuator, yes you can drop a little volume but the higher your attenuator cuts down volume the thinner your tone.
The tubes need to be good, there gonna get really hot.
A little attenuation should be fine,a little power tube distortion is proper, dont pass into Claptons Cream sound, those tubes may not last 2-3 hours of that.
I dont carry replacement tube grid resistors with me,tubes yep. It can be a way bad thing shorting a tube .
