If you insert a patch cable from the FX rack send to the FX return, jumpering the loop, your amp will turn into a monster from the hotter signal post PI and power amp I believe.

****** Some of the earlier white head Shivas are mislabeled like mine. When Bogner designed the new tubes up Shiva 20th they forgot to change the rack send and pedal send labels on the chasis. My amp's rack send is actually my pedal send and vice versa. This is why I thought I was getting such a huge volume increase by jumping my pedal send to return. It was making no sense to me since the rack send should be the hotter signal. If you jump the rack send to return look out. It gets loud. Charlie at Bogner just cleared it up for me. He said it's one of those embarassing things like a misminted penny. They only caught it fairly recently. Pretty cool info.

Good find. Mis-minted pennies are worth more too.....
 The earlier White shells will be worth more in 10 years.

@glip22. So in a sense what you're saying is you're boosting your amp with itself, but you've found the jacks to be mislabeled. How long were they built "wrong" for. Just the initial run or up until now.

Does anyone know if the Shiva loop uses switching jacks to bypass the loop when it's not being used, or is it always engaged.

The Loop is always active. I am faily sure. Charlie P at Bogner told me the older Shiva 20ths are labeled backwards. I would be guessing that it i sonly some or most of the white headshells. If your pedal send is on top of your rack send it is mislabeled. It acts as a boost because the rack send is a hotter signal. I would imagine the pedal send is always active as there is no volume change jumping this jack to return. What I find cool is you are boosting post preamp which really gets the power tubes cooking. If you are not sure jump each jack to return. If you hear a huge increase in volume that's your rack send.

The loop is bypassed when not in use. That's the reason you hear the tone difference when it's plugged in. ;)

I have a black tolex head and my pedals send is on the top and rack send is on the bottom. I tried them both and I'm using rack send because i found it worked better. So what you're saying is that mine is labeled wrong and I'm actually using pedal send?

Not sure if they relabled it or switched the jacks. It wasn't on every amp. They did finally catch it. Easiest way to tell is plug a jumper cable in each jack to return while the amp is on. You will easily hear which jack has a hotter signal. That is the rack send.

My Send and Return jacks have stickers over the labels, so I'm assuming this is how they "fixed" this problem? haha.

HOLY CRAP. I plugged a jumper from rack send to return, ok same thing as my normal setup volume wise. PLugged a jumper into pedal send AND IT GOT REALLY FUCKING LOUD.I guess i know that mine is labeled wrong. And I'm glad that i found out on my own which send to use as i was using rack send all along because it worked fine with my pedals.

Wow, Bogner. What a fuckup.

Well, it's screw up on their part to have an amp labeled wrong and the pedals send really sucks the life out of the tone unless the amp is turned up loud.

Thanks Glip. That makes total sense. Guess I was plugging into rack send all along out of habit and when I finally plugged into pedal send I noticed the volume difference. And yeah, its a monster jump in volume. Doesnt change the tone per se but if I ever play a stadium then I know what to do.
