Hello all,
I have another thread on here pertaining to my experiences with various Avatar/Fane speakers (a WGS as well). If you have not seen that, here is the link:
I finally got in my stuff to try to record these speakers. My amp has a direct out, so this is actually my first time mic'ing my guitar cab and speakers! I will do a proper comparison, with knobs set at various settings to be tested on each speaker, etc.
Here is a little clean clip of the AV75 and my Partscaster strat, Zed. I am using a UA SD-3. I am not using any modeling on it, just direct in. This is where it looked/felt/sounded right for the mic to sit within the first few minutes and playing with it.
Just a random rhythmI made up and looped on my Timeline, which is in the effects loop of the amp.
Of course, there will be much to learn, but this sounds pretty dang near close to identical to what I am hearing in the room. I will spend more time playing with mic placement to get it 100% on and marked for as best of a testing environment I can.
Amp: Rivera Clubster Royale Recording - 25w.
Guitar: Strat
Low power mode (12w?)
Bass - 6 (touch more)
Treble - 5 (touch less)
Presence - 0
Volume - 3
Everything will be properly done for the actual testing and comparison, I just wanted to make sure my setup was going to work.

OP: I ordered some Avatar AV-60 speakers after seeing another post on here about how kick-ass they were. I have some coming in to try in my horizontal and vertical 2x12 cabs.
I thought about mixing it up, but after hearing each one they had to offer, these seemed to be right on the money for my ear. Very excited to hear these in person. I have high hopes...I hope they aren't dashed! Dave at Avatar was really nice to wrok with and they really do give you a great deal for a made in USA speaker. I listened to the sound demos of Hellatone 60s vs the AV60s and it seems that the AV60 does...
