has anyone tried this combo?
thinking about getting a really good rack fx processor.....was wondering if anyone had good experiences with the axe-fx into a herbert or vh4?

I use this combination for approximately a year now and I really like it. Very flexible and killer sounding setup. However I need an Ebtech Hum Eliminator between Herbert's FX loop and the Axe-Fx to get rid of the ground loop. But that's not really a problem.

My setup is :

Guitar
-> Herbert Preamp
-> Herbert Send
-> Ebtech Channel 1
-> Axe-Fx Input 1
-> Axe-Fx Output 1
-> Ebtech Channel 2
-> Herbert Return
-> Herbert Poweramp
-> Cabinet

Out of curiosity..also the AXE FX suffers from noise problems like G_system with the 4 cables method?
I've read a bit of problems and because I don't put many fx preamp i've chosen the Eclipse.
My previous G-system all in the fx loop..dead quiet..but splitting it with 4 cables method a lot of hum/hiss.
I've tried all..Ebtech..ground lifters..>..less noise but still a lot for my taste.

Yes, unfortunately it does suffer from noise problems when used with the 4 cable method. I am just using it in the FX loop of my amps and still need the Ebtech to fight the ground loop.

If you want to use it with the 4CM you also need the Ebtech Line Shifter to match the impedance level between the Axe-Fx output and your amp's input to get the least amount of noise.

+1 on the Eventide, had 2 Axe FX's a standard and Ultra, both are great units but I like the Eventide coloring a bit better, it is thicker and warmer to my ears. YMMV

I agree. :thumbsup:
Don't get me wrong..AXE FX has a more modern and intuitive interface and less modifiers/parameters than Eventide so is more easy to set up;
grat fx quality better than TC guitar oriented rack/pedalboard.
I,IMHO, like Eventide fx more and i not use amp sims at all.
ttosh, have you ever tried well the Eventide H7600? is suitable only for studio enviroment or even live(i'm talking about latency in changing preset)?
