I use JMP 78 and old 800. JMP has big low end. Sounds killer with OCD and ZW-44. OCD is amazing let me say. Waiting for the GT-500. I also use a SD pickup booster good but adds some extra low end making it a little muddy.

What is a good ole straight up booster that won't add a blanket over the tone. Don't mention xotic pedals tried them all and they color the tone and I do not like these at all. Good for Fender not for Marshall IMHO. Wonder how the Fultone Fatboost would sound.

I LOVE my EHX LPB-2, w/ my Mojave Peacemaker and I also used it with my old '76 Marshall MKII Super Lead

I swear... I can't tell when it's on if I am not playing and the guitar volume knob is up, but when I hit a chord or a note it's obvious when it is on, because it adds just the right spice. I use it with the Mojave Peacemaker, currently, for a gain enhancement. I usually have the knob set at around 1-2 o'clock. When I used it w/ the Super Lead, it was around 1980, and I wouldn't have known any better, but it made the amp scream. That is all I remember. I haven't had the chance to compare it with the new EHX Nano, but I got mine free, so... ;)

Try an MI Audio BoostnBuff. It kills with my 800 and is a great clean boost. The buffer is an added bonus.

You should try out the zoom pd-01. with the drive at 0, its one of the best booster's i've used. Also has bass and treble. One of the only things zoom did right. they sell for around $50 too:

(its not my listing, just reference)

I liked my lpb1 w/my pv vtm 60 (jcm 800 copy) but added a ton of flabby bass, so it sounded more like a fuzz then a good metal lead.

My main booster now though, is a fetzer valve I built, but adds a ton of treble, so probably not your thing.

The DOD Grey 250 Overdrive is the most transparent American Overdrive I've tried. Its also my favorite out of xotic/maxon/ibanez/maxr/boss/fulltone..I've had for about 18 years and I understand they're ridiculously expensive now. By the way, I have the same amps u have and this pedal sounds smokin through them. The reissue don't even come close. very similar to an OCD but better string clarity and richness in notes. On the downside, they are noisy as hell which is why I use a BOSS ns-2 with it. I understand that Maxon has a new pedal out that rivals the grey DOD..its called Organic Overdrive and has two knobs. DBarzini has one and he can fill u in.

good luck !

I've used the Fatboost since it came out and I love it for "True" clean Boost. Doesn't mess with the tone or add any extra color or gain unless you really try too. If you the like the OCD you'll probably dig the Fatboost. I use both of those plus the Fulldrive 2 on my pedalboard. The fulldrive is my favorite pedal of all and has the comp-cut pullswitch that can double as a clean boost also. I mainly use the fatboost at the end of the signal chain on my pedalboard to boost the other effects when soloing for added clarity & sustain.

I can't compare the Fatboost to any other clean boost because since I've purchased it, I've never found a need to try anything else.

Hi,
I use a Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive for my lead boost. Doesn't color my tone a bit. I set level to 60%, Drive to 75%, and Tone to 0%. If I turn up the tone, my sound gets too trebly. Hope this helps.

Catalinbread chile picoso. Quiet clean boost. Killer pedal.

I used one for a bit with my Dr Z to push it over the edge and it was great. I since switched to a Catalinbread Hyper Pak so I can add some more gain and it's another awesome pedal.
