I’m acquiring an American Tele soon, and all the YT stuff sounds kick ass from this pup. Anyone have one/any experience w/one?

I believe these are still single coil so if 60 cycle hum bums you out - best to avoid

Dunno those pups. But all I can say is that from my experience with BKP, you don't need to overthink. Got the opportunity to buy a used set of Stockholm HSP90 that I installed into one of my guitars. I compared them to some Seymour Duncan P90 - same guitar model. Just different pups. The frequency response of those BK is so much better. Much fuller and richer. Also better balanced. And hotter. Which fits what I do.

Now if you'll like the cobra or not is more a question of taste, and use of it. But if you go for a similarly set output level, it'll surely kill the stock pups of your new tele. BKP are not in for the hype. :p

All my guitars will get their fitting set of BKP in due time.

Don't know about the Cobra T, but I've got a Cobra S in the neck of a Strat. Thenine's right, they're true single coils.

If the Cobra T is close to the rest of the Cobra's, I'd guess it's a modern sounding, medium output pup with a full range and no real obvious peaks in the frequency response. Again, just a guess, but I'm thinking it's somewhere around an EMG, just more organic and bouncy (for lack of a better word). I don't have any EMG Tele experience, but I've had a set of EMG SAs in a Soloist and the Cobra S is like that.

I do have a Flat 50s set in an AVRI Tele and it is, hands down, the best Tele pup I've ever heard. Nothing else even close. I agree with USofguitars that any of the BKPs are going to be an improvement. After that, it's all just a matter of taste.

Yeah, I’m sort of expecting the BK to have a more harmonically rich sound than the lil ‘59 that’s in there now. I do have a set of Holy Divers in a 7 string I have, but this should be a totally different beast.

Cool, the Holy Divers are one of my faves. You're right, the Cobra T would be a totally different beast, but I have no doubt they'd be just as good at what they do.
