Been noticing a lot of you set the bass boost on 1 for higher gain sounds. It sounds great for lower volumes.
When I turn the amp up to gigging volume, I find that I need to set the bass boost to 0 otherwise it starts sounding mushy for the SL2x & EG5.
Do you set the bass boost to 0 for higher volumes?

Nope. I run bass boost on 2 for EG5 and have the bass and mids jacked. I run it loud enough to shake dinner loose and I still find it very articulate.

Typically, I lower the presence control and keep the bass boosts off at higher volumes. Helps keep the sound from getting out of control.
I don't use the EG5 live. Usually EG 3/4, VX, COD and SL2X. I don't find the need to boost any of the highs or lows on those 4.

Which amp and power amps tubes are you using?

M4/Rivera TBR5 running an octet of EL34's to a Sunn 4x12 (GT75's) and a Sunn 4x10 open back (Emminence Ramrods and Ragin Cajuns).

Really depends on the speakers / power tubes you are using.

With speakers like V30s or K100s, having the bass boost up on 1 or 2 is fine....as you can never push those speakers enough to make the bass get mushy (the V30 doesn't really have that much "sub low end"..and the K100 can take all the low end you give it like a whore in Nevada! Power tubes will make a big difference too. Tubes like 6550s which don't get mushy or "brown" when pushed at high volumes, can just take it like a champ also. I personally don't ever use Bass Boost 2 on either SL2X or EG5. It gets too boomy for me. Bass boost 1 on both sounds just right for me. On the SL2X I run the bass at noon...and on the EG5 I run the bass at 2 oclock....both w/ the Bass Boost Switch on 1.
