Hey guys,
I'm looking into getting a midi foot controller for my herbert. I haven't set up a rig yet and am still unsure whether to go the rack or pedal route so would preferably like a foot controller that could do both, and obviously change amp channels. Also it needs to be pretty simple to use as i'm not great with the complicated stuff!
Do you think the Behringer would be a good choice, or can you suggest what you think are the best value for money midi controllers? I really can't afford a columbus.
Thanks,
Jonny.

When I owned my Herbert, I used just ANY midi switcher. I think I ran it with a Digitech or Boss switcher, which worked perfectly fine. I gigged a lot and never had any problems with it, except when someone dropped a couple of beers on it. But then: at the price, getting another one was not that big of a deal.

Anyway: yes, I believe a Behringer will work just as well.

i use one as you can see, and i can tell you that it works just fine!!! I picked it up used at G center for 70 bucks!!!

Damn brother, you got a steal there!
Can it control racks and pedals? also can you assign the pedals as volume controls? and is it a tricky one to work out how to use? Thanks for the replies guys :)

The Behringer will work just fine. But remember...its a cheaper made pedal & you may encounter some issues if you use it alot ( i know i did) I would look into something a little better built like a Ground Control Pro or a Columbus. Yes, they are more expensive...but will save you aggrevation in the end. Just a better built product. But if you are just knocking around the house or studio...the Behringer will suffice!!

You can pick up a new

(and it supports the phantom power feature of Herbert) at GC for ~$100.
I use the FCB1010 but it does not support the phantom power from Herbert, but they are great midi pedals and I make full use of the two expression pedals. The FCB1010 can be aquired for ~$130 and IMO is worth the extra $30.

With all due respect to Mr Peter, the price of the Columbus is just IMHO unreasonable. Unless you have the need to control single pedal effects and don't like rack units, which I adore.

If you're comfortable soldering 2 wires, the FCB1010 can be modded to take phantom power. I modded mine and it works like a champ with my Herbert. I like the FCB1010, but I have to say, it's not the greatest build quality. But for the features and price, I can but another one later and still have spent less money for both controllers than most comparable one.

Thanks guys, I think I will probably go for the fcb1010 then ;) But keep ideas coming if you have them!

Btw, random note, but I just found my first amp, an old squier sp-10 in my cupboard and plugged in... damn Peter, you better watch out, the OD channel on that thing is pretty lethal! (However, unfortunately, not in a good way...).
