I have a 77 marshall head that I'd like to get a flight case for. Any suggestions on quality and price?

I used safecases , really cool guy top quality product and the best price I could find or safe case mabye, but highly reccommened..

I dont know if they are absolutely the best, but I got a head case from http://www.rockhardcases.com , fantastic quality, you could throw it out of a plane if you wanted to, and it would survive (maybe not the tubes   ) They are not the cheapest thing out there, but I looked at several before deciding, and the quality of these were top-notch. If I remember right, it was around 325 (?) Brad told me about these guys  BTW- thanks Brad ;)

For quality, features and price, you can't beat Xcase, i've got two 78' JMP 2203's, call or email Tim, JMP flip tops start at $190 shipped, that about $100 bucks cheaper than anyone else.

shop around don't be fooled by price, 1/4- 3/8-1/2 ply it all matters in the cost, here is a side view picture of a live in case I got from barry cases, I just slapped the front on for the picture, but I think there are more rivets on the side of this case, then on all of the other case posted here, (click the picture) had I put the back on too, you would really know what I mean, it is just like the front, you get what you pay for, and yes this was very expensive

+1 for Barry Cases! I used to have a head/rack combo case and that thing was all over the country with me on lots of tours. never had ANY problems, plus the casters were amazing...rolled over anything like a tank

I bought my case used so i can't comment on the new price of one.

Best Looking case so far!

might have gone just a bit over board with the rivits but great quality.
if its made with anything thicker than 3/8 it should be a shit brick house for your amp.

Can you elaborate on the "very expensive" part? :D

it has been awhile, but I paid about $900.00 for head and 4x12 bottom live in cases

As Marshall Law stated.. don't be fooled. Many cases look like a true ATA case but there are many differences. Here is a case I had made recently by Jan-Al cases out of California. This case is 100% true ATA spec compliant.

The cheap one's won't even survive a flight....in a box.

Expect to pay about $400 for a good, quality head case. Don't buy the Gator shit on GC or mass produced stuff. Stick with Rock Hard, Barry, Viking, etc. If it looks to be cheap in price, then it is going to be a piece of shit. If you just need something around the house to keep the dust off, that's one thing. If it is moved around a lot gigging or flying, spend the extra $100 for quality.

I agree with this. I've bought cheap pedal boards in the style of flight case pedal boards and I thoguht it was great, until I gigged with it and discovered that it really lacked quality.

I'm going to buy a flight case for my 5150 II at some point, I don't need the best of quality as I won't be doing any flying.

I bought a case from Angstrom on ebay about 3 years ago for my JVM and it still is in perfect shape. I gig with it all the time and set my halfstack on top of it at shows. It's definitely held its own in our van. It's really rugged, has recessed latches, rivets, heavy-duty reinforced corners, etc. and I got it for $220. The only drawback it it's not a live-in, but I don't need that. I really like putting my half-stack on top of the case. You can get some rugged, ATA cases for a lot less than the $400 some of the other dudes on here paid if you look around.

The term ATA seems to be thrown around quite frequently by most case companies and many of these same companies are nowhere near ATA spec compliant. There are "road cases" and then there are true ATA 300 Cat 1 compliant cases. If you look at Marshall Law's case and my case they are most certainly ATA 300 Cat 1 spec cases. Do most players need this quality of a case, probably not, but for a bit more money you can get a true ATA 300 Cat 1 spec case and it will last longer than most of us will own the gear it protects. :)
