Best Guitar Wall Hangers

I'd like to start hanging my guitars on my studio wall & was wondering what the best possible wall hangars would be.

Also, does anything have to be done to the screws, mounts or wall to make sure it's in sturdy enough to hold a guitar safely for years?

I absolutely love them... the little arms flip up when you hang any weight on them so the guitar can't slide forward if it is bumped or pulled laterally (sp?)... you have to pull it "up" to release it...

I used the standard screws it came with, but also put gorilla glue on the back of the wood block and then screwed it into plain drywall with just some regular plastic drywall anchors...

For what it's worth, I have one pretty low to the ground, I catch my 2 year old hanging from it all the time and he's never been able to pull it down... and they aren't screwed into and studs or anything... just the drywall...
 
I have 4 of these ^^^ as well, but I put the into studs with 4' screws. Works fantastic.
 
As with the above two posters, if you're drilling into wooden studs, I prefer these the most:

With the three hole design Hercules has, the upper two holes are usually too wide to drill directly into a stud, hence the reason for going with the two hole model. I recommend replacing the screws with proper wood screws, though.

If you're drilling into drywall, I recommend using these:

The hardware that comes with them is great for mounting into pure drywall given the anchors they use.

The three hole Hercules models can also be used for pure drywall, but I'm not sure if the hardware that comes with them will be suitable. The drywall inserts that came with the two hole model would not be adequate enough for me to feel comfortable hanging some guitars.

If you have metal studs, I would recommend you avoid attempting to drill into them and mount into drywall instead.
 
If your studs aren't in a convenient location for the hangers, go get a nice piece of wooden trim at Home Depot. 1x4 Oak or cherry or whatever. Run that horizontally where you want your hangers to go, screwing it into the studs. Then you can hang your hangers anywhere along that strip and they'll be very secure.
 
Thanks for all the excellent tips. I'll be drilling into pure drywall so I would need a model that would be best suited for this type of thing.

I have nightmares about drywall giving out & my guitars crashing to the ground. :scared:
 
hercules, just put them on a stud, but ive used drywall anchors without any problems too

This is what I use. $1.50 a piece and a massive mounting screw that goes right through the drywall and into the stud. Keep them spaced at 19" and run them all the way down the hall. Never had one slip or mark the headstock on any guitar. I have some of the Fender ones and for the money if you're doing a lot of them the tool hooks work perfectly.

Would I keep them 19" apart from hanger to hanger?
 
These are new hangers I saw at the NAMM show in Nashville! In the shape of popular guitars...they hang up to 3 guitars on your wall with one unit. The holes are spaced 16 inches apart, so I was able to mount it to all 3 studs in my wall.
